Kodiaks are my favourite too! My brother runs a bear rescue. He saw Bart (the Kodiak Bear) at the Sportman Show in Toronto. Bart acted in movies such as 'The Edge'. (Great acting by Bart in that one!).
Bart is HUGE
Bart died of cancer at the age of 23.

Yeah I've always enjoyed Bart the bear, he was in a lot of movies and a couple of specials on PBS.
I knew he had died but didn't remember any of the details.
I guy here in my area used to keep a bear, be it a brown, grizzly, Kodiak, I dunno, in an old concrete grain silo for the purpose of training dogs to hunt them. He was some kind of guide and took people on hunts.
I got to see the bear up close one day as we were looking to buy the next property and the bear was in an open field about a hundred yards from us. Just the size alone makes you feel like a bunny rabbit in the headlights.
The Realtor almost shit his pants..lol
The man was friendly and the bear was very well behaved despite being used for dog training.
Last I heard the guy went out of business and the bear was put down soon after.
I hate to see wild animals used this was, I still know people who sell wild animals including Black bear.
Its just not right.

Just get in the car and do it Moons!! Greatest adventure of my life and I don't think I'll be lucky enough to do it again. Loved all the parks but I'd love to spend a month in Death Valley. No bears but plenty of other critters. Not enough hours in one day there, unparalleled beauty in every direction, would love to go back.

Uh, I just realized I've hijacked my own thread

Every time I think I could go anywhere something always comes up.
If I do I am sure I'm going alone and leaving the family here to take care of the dogs.......lol
No stops for the bathroom every twenty miles, snacks, tourist shops.
Besides I'd have more fun alone....
My friend in Montana has moved a couple of times since I was last there, hell that was twenty years ago, but he's still in the state. I'd have to stop and see him if I made the trip.
All I need is a good car and some cash.
Too old to hitch hike.
I wanna tho.

I'm going into Shep=a-huahuas, in case you haven't heard. LOLOL I wonder if I could cross Xena with a bear to get hybrid vigor?
No, you say? Oh well. Another great idea goes out the window with my bathwater.

LOL Shelley, could you imagine that mix? 70 lb. body with Chi head! Or, better yet, 3 lb. body with a GSD head! Oh, the possibilities! Go for it.
As for the bear hybrid, yeah, but just watch who's sitting outside the window!
