Alpine guy why do you hate malinois so much. I have seen some that where unbelievable. and they are not all like flying squirrels. I simply stated we are conditioned to pay too much money for pups from untested parents. Not sure what you are into , you where on here singing the praises of  shiloh collies the half bred Shepherd collie like dogs. People on here are asking 3 -6 grand for dogs with no training just because its from import lines. Thats what I was refering to. They would be much better of flying to Germany and getting a dog their selves . When I am there there are very good dogs for reasonable prices and Check dogs for super prices not the crazy ones we see here. Paay it if you want , or if your asking ridiculus prices for yours go for it , and maybe you will find a sucker...

1. I do not hate  Malinois!!!! Heck I sell them to PDs all the time. Malinois are fine breed as long as you know what are their limitations. I do not hate them the  same way as I do not hate Chihuahuas, Cockerpu and Pugs or any other dogs:). I do not know what you are talking about.
Also Shiloh is not a GSD. It is a separate breed just like Malinois. You are the one who hates different breeds Shiloh is one of them, right?.... or at least it looks like it
2. Tested Parents? Who is doing the testing? SchH? Show people? That is my point exactly. We need to figure out general  testing of working abilities where we would not test just sporting abilities, but also courage, fight drive under pressure, and other, unfortunately now,  esoteric qualities; as longevity, endurance and so on...
3.Pricing . OK you can go to Germany or Czech to look for dog and get better price then you need to pay here in USA for the same dog. Same way as you can go to Germany and buy there Mercedes Benz for less too.  But do not forget to add to it the price of the dog there  your lost wages,  airfare, hotel, car rental, gas, extra for food in restaurants. Then when you get the dog what about warranty. Most of the sales there are final (buyer beware) and if they tell you that they guarantee your dog and they do not, what is your recourse? Besides this is a too much for John Q. Public to solve on their own. It takes years of experience to find breeder who is it not going to suck it to you just because you are one time deal and "rich American Dummy" to them. I am from  there and I would not buy a dog from anybody but my friends who I know for decades. And if I find a dog there elsewhere i still let my friends handle for me. How much is it worth to deal with someone who knows what he is doing.

Just that some times you call them flying squirrels and elude that they are not large enough. I have seen many malinois in Belgium and Holland that  no Shepherd can compare to.  Yes I am a Shepherd guy  but I have owned some great Malinois as well.
It's not  that  I hate Shilo anything, its just to even say they are Shepherds is total bs It seems they give you the worst of both worlds , long haired narrow headed soft dogs. Why not just get a collie?
I was talking about people on here asking top $ for pups and adults that have never been tested to be even breed worthy. I agree that you need someone honest in Europe to deal with, but you also need an honest person here to deal with. People should research who they buy from here or there.  I just think its crimminal to charge some of the prices for untitled , untrained, untested dogs,

Typical Malinois is around 50lb. If they are bigger it is because there are infused into their blodlines other breeds like GSD, and others...
FCI, I belive still, alows that since it is not finished breed.
Shiloh: As far as the name Shiloh SHEPHERD goes . That word SHEPEHRD indicates that they are from  hearding dog family and not that they are German Shepherd breed! They are separate breed from GSD. Samne as Anatolian Shepherd, Australian Shepherd.  I have seem them (SS) perform herding tasks and they did quite well.
 THUS: GSD IS NOT SS!!!
