DebiSue.......I was curious......do you compete in the "conformation venues"?...if so.....German or American.?
I was curious to know if I may have participated in the same shows as yourself?....since we participate in quite a few with our dogs.......maybe our paths crossed???
I can't always put a face to the "posters"........

barbandjason,
your female looks very nice, but she comes from German Show lines, not working lines.

Oh German show lines? Her parents have Sch titles so I thought she was from working lines.

the SV requires all GSDs to be titled before being bred, so working and showline GSDs will/should all be titled.

IMO Her ears are "parallel" as they should be. She looks like a girl. Her chest is nice and broad.......she is a bit longer then I'd like but over all she is very nice. If she were mine, I would hold my head up high when I walked her...
OH, and she has that great GSD tounge....

Robin,
I have shown Echo in one conformation show only and it was at Tornado Alley Schutzhund Club just outside of Topeka, Ks. over the Thanksgiving weekend this year. She was rated SG2 under German Judge Johannes Grewe at their USCA Schutzhund Trial. I don't know if you were there or not. It was miserably cold and windy and President Obama could have been there and I wouldn't have noticed because I was so wrapped up in the experience. I haven't thought about showing her again as I just wanted to see how she would be rated. I'm hoping I'll be putting some titles on her in the next year or two.
If you were wondering "Who the heck does she think she is by critiquing all these dogs", nobody special. I'm just putting my opinion out there hoping someone else either agrees with me or tells me what I missed. I'm just trying to gain knowlege and I enjoy giving my opinion,(for what it's worth).

I appreciate everyone's input, very much appreciated. I am wondering what are your thoughts on DVG or German Sheperd Club of America for Competing. I have several shepherds and so might go GSCA but also train other breeds and would like to be able to compete with all of my dogs. I heard that the Shepherd Club was requiring exclusive membership so that you could only be in their club and not any other Schutzhund Club. I live in Missouri so If anyone knows of a good club for beginners, I am willing to travel about the state if needed. Thanks

DebiSue,
No judgement......I was genuinely wondering about the show circuit..?
It's very hard to put "faces" with some of the people on the boards.
As for the critiques on the boards......I rarely do them. I find that although most people may want a critique on their dogs.....alot of people can get offended when the critique is not what they expected.
It's like picking apart someone's "child"........
Respectfully, I do have the experience and knowledge to contribute to some things on the forums,.. including "conformation"......but I try to keep my posts to a minimum.........
BUT I REALLY DO ENJOY READING EVERYONE ELSE'S!
Thanks for your response Debi......maybe we'll meet at a show sooner or later!
Robin
p.s Barbnjason....your female is pretty! Best wishes!

Robin,
It would be nice to meet up with you sometime. There are a lot of people on this board that I would love to meet and pick their brains. I know what you mean about giving critiques. Some people do want an honest critique and I try my best to give them one. Others you can tell they just want someone else to tell them they have a pretty dog. I try to be kind and not say anything that would be considered mean. We all love our dogs so I refuse to say anything cruel. Some dogs are easier to critique than others.
It's kinda like when someone shows you an ugly baby if you can't lie and say she's pretty then say something like she sure looks like her dad. It's still the truth and no harm done. .
I'm no expert so I would not be surprised to find a dog I find lacking winning or placing high. It would make me take a better look and re-evaluate my critique. I'm thick skinned so I don't mind someone setting me straight or proving me wrong. I'm like a sponge, I just soak it all up.
