I haven't done a thing. I have painters all over my house and a no-show carpenter. The family is all coming Christmas eve. I haven't a clue what to buy anyone. And I need some serving suggestions, if someone feels like sharing. I'll make lasagna... that's all I know right now.

My stress factor is officially beginning right now!

Steve,  nice lean venison, all crop feed. You are correct  you do not need to over cook it. I can only describe it as a more gamer taste not like a corn feed beef.  I like to use garlic season when cooking it, mainly pound flour into the steak and season to taste.
Always,
Cee

Tis the Season to be JOLLY

My  mischevious puppy   torn the lights out of the socket on gate last night...no damage but now I know I have to put in steel box and hide and keep him in kennel unless I am out there...he thinks he owns the whole place...

Hey Steve,

I second Cee...Lots and lots of garlic for venison.  Here we don't usually have to buy it...But we do have to go and kill it.  Here we can only get one tag, doe or buck, and doe season was only nine days (we didn't get one, sadly).  The tag runs you $28 or $29 US.

Most places you can get more than one, or have a longer season...I guess Idaho hasn't figured out that the reason there are so many getting hit on the roads is because there are too many too begin with!

Don't know what venison costs if you have to buy it around here...Probably similar in price to bison or farm raised elk..

Merry Christmas to all, and may all of you see the fulfillment of your wishes!

If your going to grill your venison steak try rubing it with olive oil first then put on your seasoning  and let set for a hour or so before grilling.

Steve:

My friend, I,m sorry I have a bunch in my freezer I wish I could get some to you.

Can wild game be shipped frozen?

A few extra paryers and maybe a little something special for the main meal of the day itself for me, wherever I happen to be at the time, and that's it for this year.
I'll miss having a tree and seeing my step kids, but there will be other Christmases. :-)

I got multiple county tags filled and 210 pounds of meat this year. 4 the first time I posted adds on freecycle for the deer bones and someone came for them the first day every-time. 1 tag to go !!

Anyone notice butchering, the deers have some fat on this year ?
