Did anyone look at the links on their website? There was a link to a site against fur farming in china. I had checked this out before, but the video on this site was awful. I do not recomend it to anyone one with a weak stomach. I did not watch the entire thing at first. Why would they want to skin the animal alive? Yeah, they got that on tape. I don't get what the benefits of skinning alive are.

I'm not saying what you saw doesn't happen, just BE CAREFUL who it is that's presenting the information. The Bejing Olympics put a lot of pressure on China to clean up its act as far as treatment of animals was concerned. I think things are slowly getting better. IN the meantime, PETA still kills most of the animals it gets its hands on, and is trying its best to totally eliminate pet ownership by pushing draconian spay/neuter and licensing legislation through the state legislatures.
Helmut Raiser is not the breed warden for the SV
I knew that. I thought maybe he was a past warden, though.

But on a positive note I am intrigued by nutty people so it was some interesting reading. I can't believe these people are for real.

Edit: never mind, I found the Pet Psychic page (it's available through the PetFinder rescue link. That's where they also talk about taking the rejects from the South African police. Oy!
I am not a fan of pet pyschics. I am sure many of them are a few fries short of a Happy Meal. HOWEVER, I did have an experience with one well-known psychic, which has made me reserve judgement on them.
Around the time I adopted my first GSD, I met a guy name Chris. He'd attended seminars this lady had given on how to talk to your dog. Chris said he'd been able to do it sucessfully with his GSD, while attending her seminar. He loaned me her book, and I read it and went, "Hmmmm....interesting, but not sure I buy it. It's just soooo way out there!"
Chris eventually left the Toronto area to go down to the States to pet-sit for this lady while she travelled around the country giving seminars. She was a very talented animal trainer, and helped train the dolphins and whales at Sea World in Florida.
He left me her number so I could contact him if needed.
In February, some legal issues arose re. Chris's departure (he was definitely one of those who was a few fries short of a Happy Meal!) so I called the number he had left me, and spoke to the pet psychic.
In the months since Chris had left, my 8 year old GSD had developed ankylosing spondylitis of the spine, and was slowly losing control of her hind legs. The bony spurs on the vertebrae were also affecting the blood circulation, and she'd developed a chronic bacterial infection in the spine as well. The first vet I spoke to recommended euthanasia, but, as she did not seem to be in pain, I wanted to give her a chance, and try treating it. As the psychic also was knowledgeable about treating illnesses with nutrition, once we'd dealt with Chris and the legal stuff, I asked her about Lilli. She gave me some advice on things that would help her immune system and nerve function. I also said I was wondering if I was being unfair to the dog to try to keep her going. Without ever having laid eyes on her, she 'read' the dog's mind. She said, "She still wants to keep going, but it's getting harder and harder to walk. She wants to stay with you, and says the pain isn't so bad."
This confirmed what the dog was telling ME through her actions and body language. She was still taking great pleasure in going for walks with me, as short as those walks had become, and she still had that sparkle in her eye which said she was enjoying life.
I tried the psychic's suggestions re. nutrition and supplements, and, at the next vet checkup, the vet found her nerve function had improved quite a bit. He said, "Whatever you're doing, KEEP DOING IT!"
The improvement didn't last, however, and by July, she could no longer walk, and I had her put to sleep. But I am still grateful to Bea Lydecker for helping me give her a few more months, and for reassuring me that Lilli still wanted to keep living.

The bit about talking to dogs is near the bottom of the home page, where they have a sample of their "news letter": http://www.olderhill.co.za/main.html It truly is funny, rubbish, but funny, I'll give them that. Sorry, but after looking at that website the nicest thing I can say is this breeder would not be my cup of tea either.
