They are our heart and soul. Always willing to show us what is really important. So sorry for  your loss.

my biking, hiking, ball-playing buddies. humans have so many excuses to not go bike or hike, their backs hurt, their knees hurt, or they have asthma. my dogs never say no. just say the word go and they are tearing down the stairs, spunky whining in anticipation. fluffy bounces up and down in excitement and spunky has taken to spinning in circles lately. i honestly prefer their company to anyone else's anyway. LOL.

Thank you all.

Robin... I'm know you know of my special bond with Ekco, but he has far surpassed anything I could have ever asked for.  His intuition is amazing.  He is now eleven, and even without any real training over the past few years, he did more than I could have ever asked of him that day.  I am very happy to hear that Drago was there for you when you needed him as he was also always one of those special boys too.  That baby photo of him I have will always be one of my absolute favorites.  He had that special look in his eyes even at eight weeks old.

Some pictures of Ekco from the walk.  Unfortunately I did not get many of him with people stopping to visit as I was taking pictures of the groups in front of the banner.

The beginning of the morning.  Ekco has already assumed the position and begun his "act"...

How can anyone pass up those eyes (he's got this act down pat)...

He volunteered to sit with some of the girls (even if it was a sloppy one)...

He waited by the water for the walkers to come around...

He hung out with some of the girls who were volunteering as we waited some more...

He watched as the teams walked by...

And finally, he hung out with the half way point water volunteers...

More of Ekco's life can be seen on my site at www.apprints.com/Ekco2.html.  Pictures and videos of my brother can be seen there as well at www.apprints.com/Stephen.html. I have two other Shepherds I love to death, but neither would have been able to do what Ekco did that day.  Every now and then, you come across one who knows things before even you yourself do.  Ekco has been that for me.  He's curled up right next to me now as he is most of the time these days.  I couldn't get away from him if I tried.  It's not always about the showing or working.  It's about the temperament.  Thank goodness for the animals that save us even if we don't know we need saving....

Again Ami I am soooo sorry for your loss. It is amazing what are dogs can get us through for they sense alot more then we do. It is so true that the titles or any other accomplishements we achieve with our dogs means nothing, but the bond and unconditional love we recieve each and every day is the most important gift we can recieve and should not be taken for granted. Ekco looks just as noble as the last time I saw him but the special look in his eyes while he was with you at this function is priceless.
