GSDbrisko & Consus,
Thanks. I only use a pinch for training then it comes off. However, they both wear their flat collars all the time even in the house. They both nave nice coats. I will start taking their flat collars off now in the house and see if that will make a difference.

I usually have a fur saver on my dog, even indoors, because it has his license tag and ID - though I will take it off for short periods and grooming. Around here the local police are GSD grabby. If you have a nice one, they tend to single you out for extra scrutiny and slap you with fines for stuff they give other dog owners a pass on. (Got tickets for having an unlicensed, unvaccinated, "roaming dog" - he had all his tags, was up to date on rabies, and was "loose" on my property - but was seen with "one paw" on my sidewalk. Went to court with all docs and did not have to pay almost $300 - but it was a pain in the ass to take time off to do it.)
The prong collar I use for training or in situations where I might need a little extra control - in case of something unexpected.
