Jim,
The lighthouse up here and the surrounding area is also very much worth the trip. You can go up in the lighthouse and view from the top is just spectacular!

Hi Lael,
I am going to try to get there tomorrow. Depends how late a night I have tonight. ;0) I will definitely check out the light house.

RLHAR,
Sounds like you did some great work with a good dog! I have to agree with the others, it is all your hard work with your wonderful dog, not necessarily the training mindset (i.e. Schutzhund vs K9). Keep up the good work and pass on your experiences with training to others you encounter.

Any form of training has it's place in a real world. The only form of training that has no place in a real world is no training. Weather the type of sport you do applies to real world will depend on the foundation that you did. I am sure there would be some SCH III dog's that will not be able to perform the set of simple exercise of the field but this is due to a bad training rather than fault of the sport. If you enforce the routine in a real world you make it so much better, and the dog become a true companion that easy to live with.

Well you guys praise someone for free heeling there dog along a road where there is traffic and probably people. To me that is irresponsible, and not at all clever thing to do, Dogs are Dogs and the VERY best Trained Dogs do things unexpected at times,
let us say a cat ran out in front of it some person made to pet it without giving warning of doing so any amount of things can happen and with no control of the dog but voice and that can be too late,
He or she got away with it this time but another time may not be so lucky
it is unfair to pedestrians or road users to free heel a Dog on a pavement next to a road with traffic and other people
On a busy area a Dog should be on a leash at all times there is no exception. i for one am not impressed, For a start the Dog will be the one to suffer if it makes a mistake
I guess none of you will agree with me for you have already praised the one doing it so it must be a normal thing for dog owners to do over there in the USA
