Ramage,
Importing is easy if you go to the right breeder. I didn't get screwed and am paying the same amount for a puppy from there, including the shipping as I would here. The dogs are of excellent quality. The breeder I am going to did NOT send me his cast off puppy. I got a very nice pup with great temperment and excellent drive.

I am importing a workingline puppy from Belgium in November. I am getting her from the same breeder I got my 2 year old workingline male from. He came highly recommended to me and I recommend him to anyone. What bloodlines are you looking for? If you go to my thread in the German Shepherd section called "deciding on a litter, opinions please" you will read much about the breeder and see the two litters he has available now, plus information about the parents of both litters. You can contact me privately if you want more information about him.

I know I am going to catch crap for this, but... for the number of dogs that Taunya and Josef at Eurosport import, you will find relatively few unhappy clients.  Several satisfied clients here on this board, in fact.

I can recommend a breeder here in the U.S. expecting a litter. Sire is a V rated BSP participant out of a very good winning bitch in Germany. This dog is as good as almost any you can find in Germany.  Don't have details on the dam.

Haven't heard any bad reports on Molly G, Dennis Johnson, Alpine K9 or Eurosport.  I'm with these other guys,. The dog you choose will be with you for many years to come. Get one you can go see.

Other than that, steve1 is from Belgium and may can help. Bob Mc. had a good experience buying from a breeder in Belgium.

I got 2 dogs from the same breeder in Germany. The one I flew over and put my hands on is excellent. The one I just sent the cash for is an absolute horror story.

She crawled out of the crate on her belly, peeing on the floor and now a year later is still doing the same thing. Be very careful.

JMHO,
Rik

If you do decide to go to the breeder in Belgium, Steve1 is also very good friends with him and will vouch for him also.

Stacy says she pays the same for a Pup from over here in Belguim from this breeder including the Shipping Charges etc as you would from your own country of that i am not suprised, Well i know the breeder she is refering too and his Dogs are A1 Quality but i do not know the costs because it is none of my business
All  his Dogs have to earn SCH titles and he titles them himself, All are Korclassed, and all are DNA all have the Joints qualified offically before being bred from, nothing is left out
He is a Wizard with Dogs of this kind and very well respected throughout Europe being the Belgian Team Captain for the Belgian-National team going to the WUSV Plus his services are in demand throughout the world as far as the USA, Canada, Malaysia, Australia etc He is a world renowned  ScH Judge and Helper,
Yes, i know him very well and i am proud to know him and call him a friend and train at the same Club as he does, and he Trains Me in effect meaning he helps me when i go wrong or have a problem otherwise he says nothing to me and that is good because then i must be doing something right,
As a Breeder He is A1 will give you his time and help nothing is too much trouble plus he speaks very good English,
Regards what is left of these two litters i do not know it is none of my business, but i can say they are beauifully bred and if they are all sold he has another Cracking Litter being Born in November i think, if you want more info mail me private, But best of all go and look at his website this litter i am refering too is not yet on there yet
Plus take a look at the Pic's of Pup IZZY that will show you the Quality you will be getting Both my Dogs are from him. I recommend him to anyone who wants to purchase from over here in Europe without any problems from Day One of that i can guarantee, I was not going to comment at all on this thread but i see my name was mentioned and Yes the Guys are right

There are importers who pick up a high quality puppy and there are also those who would screw you.As the others said  you can find high quality puppies in States.
A lot of you mentioned they got screwed by the importers. Here is my experience as an importer. We sold two puppies from our C litter to a guy in States. He had imported two puppies from us /from our A litter /before and everything was o.k..He was very satisfied with them.It was also all right with these two new ones.We sent them to him when they were 12 weeks old,I and vet checked them the day before departure, there was no problem with them. One month later my husband´s daughter who lives in States called me that this guy phoned her and said that the puppies teeth were incorrect, they had underbite.I immediately wrote him an e-mail asking what´s happening and asked him to discuss the problem with me not with her as it is not her matter. He said they had underbite so that he cannot keep them as they can´t be used for breeding which I understood.I was suprised about having underbite as the dam had 3 litters so far,all pups have correct teeth,I checked their teeth, vet did the same but I thought o.k. it may happen although it was quite strange about exactly his 2 puppies having this problem.I called the owners of the other pups from this litter enquiring about the teeth, none of them had this problem. It was also strange that he was speaking about underbite. If it was overbite I would understand as at the age of 4 months some puppies have overbite which often disappears. He said : They have underbite just like boxers do.He said he had a certificate from the vet about it and he was sending it to me.I read it - the names of the puppies and their tattoo numbers weren´t stated there. There was just written that two 4 months old puppies - a male and a female have overbite not underbite.I could smell a rat. However I wanted to solve this problem so I asked him what can we do about it.I offered him to replace the puppies with puppies from our next litter or to give him back the money he paid for the puppies. He wanted the money. So we asked him to bring the puppies to my husband´s daughter, they live in the same state. He brought the puppies to her and she gave him back the money for the puppies, 1200 USD which was what he paid for them. She doesn´t know much about the teeth so she took them to vet the very next day.The teeth were correct , no underbite,no overbite. Within a week she found new owners for these puppies, they are satisfied with them.
However, the story doesn´t end here. This guy contacted me and wanted me to give him back also the money he paid for the shipping. He claimed he paid 1800 €  for the shipping - he arranged the shipping.I knew it was 590 €.When I told him that I asked the airlines about it he said he had forgotten that he had an adult female shipped at that time too so he forgot.I know he didn´t.
We refused to pay him the shipping costs,he got the money for the puppies back despite the fact he was lying.I think we were fair with what we did.

Thank you everyone for the great replies.

As for buying a pup here in the states, I am not against that but have not had an easy time finding a pup out of two titled parents that is also in my budget. I keep getting emails back about pups I like, only to find out they want $3,000 for the pup.

I decided that I could probably get a pup of the quality I want for the money I have from over seas. I just would need to find the right breeder that would not try and screw me.

If I could find one here in the states, that would be great ... but show me a puppy with good drives, out of two SchH 3 parents, of good working lines, that is not over $1,500 here in the states?

VomRuiz and Steve, thanks so much for the info on the breeder in Belgium. I have sent him an email and am hoping that he has a male still available out of the Zasko x Hetty litter.

Thanks again to all.

I think you can find pups out of a 3x3 breeding in the States for $1800 which is a fair price.  Perhaps even $1500.

What is the youngest one can safely and healthfully import a pup, anyway?  I thought that responsible people only imported adolescents or adults, not pups.  Am I wrong?
