Looks to me to be a plush coat bordering on long coat with the hair round the ears.  Lovely puppy, makes no difference to me what length his coat is; I’d have him if I had room, a dog is more than a coat.

Long stock.

Anyone who loves coated dogs should understand at this age of course his coat is not very long yet. He just dropped his puppy coat and the adult coat is only beginning to grow. He will get more length to his hair as he ages.

Looking at the hair around the ears, I say possible plush or maybe even LC, but only time will tell for sure.  As for who will like him.....I'll take him:)

Ok......does everyone know that there are only 2 true "coat types" recognized?
They are either considered (Stock-Coats or Long Stock Coats)....plush, flat, tight,short.. etc....are really not "coat types"...they are just terms that some people use.
Just a small FYI...nothing more.

Thank you Robin!  The word "plush" drives me bonkers and only creates confusion.

That is not true. There are stock coats, long stock coats and long coats. The true long coats do not have an undercoat, whereas the long stock coats do. I personally have never seen a long coat without an undercoat, but the lack of undercoat in some long coated GSDs was supposedly the reason for banning GSDs with long coats all together. Furthermore, there are many variations of coats and I think this is going to create a lot of confusion with the SV shows since they are now allowing long stock coats. Some GSDs have what appears to be a slightly more "plush" coat than a stock coat, yet they have ear tufts and feathers in between the toes. Are they long stcok coats? There are GSDs with true obvious long stock coats, yet they have no ear tufts or feathers between the toes. There are even many variations of stock coat. My showline male GSD had a very "plush" coat, but and no ear tufts or toe feathers and  was clearly not a long coat, but he had a tail like a long stock coat. There are many variations in length of long stock coats as well- a wide variety of coat lengths. If you ask 10 different people how to define long stock coats and stock coats, along with the terminology, you will probably get 10 different answers. It is not so black and white. We'll see what the SV does with this. Having said all of that, I am just thrilled the long stock coats are back and accepted!

Actually, they are called "Long Hair Coats"......and they are almost never seen.....they have absolutely no undercoat.
Whether they have hair between there toes or not.....means nothing.  A long stock coat is just that...a long stock coat.
There are variations of "length" and "texture", but they are still (long stock coats).
Just as there are variations in (stock coats.)....what people call tight, short, fluffy, flat, plush...etc... AGAIN....they are just "stock coats".
Long Hair is a complete disqualification......no undercoat....no matter how long the hair is.
I could look for the German terminology if needed....I was just too lazy to look.

Forgot to mention, that when most people (NOT all) refer to plush, they usually mean the hair is shorter than the average long stock coat- it is just a way to identify coat length. The "plush" coat is not as short as a stock coat and may or may not have ear tufts and/or toe feathers.  My Shelby has a shorter coat in the summer, which some may refer to as a plush coat, but looks like a true long stock coat in the winter. She has ear tufts, toe feathers and an undercoat year round. Her picture is on my avatar- summer coat- as you can see, she doesn't have long hair on her underside, nor long hair on her legs. The SV will clarify.....eventually.

I have a long coat and a plush coat...I would say this puppy looks to be a plush coat!

(Not that I am any kind of expert, but basing my opinion on my experience with the two dogs I own.)

Beautiful pup :)
