Tina I have a bitch on heat at the moment and I really want to get her pregnant this time as she had a phantom last time, she is 5 years old and only ever produced one litter of 3 puppies.

I did a progesterone test on Monday that was day 15 for her and the reading was 1 so I will be doing a second tomorrow Friday and hope that she is heading upwards as that will put her on day 19.
Last heat she put in a curve ball first prog test was 2 and 3 days later she was back at a reading of 1, next test 5 days later she was only 9 (I guess we use a different scale here because they need to be 20 - 30). We did eventually get a mating on day 19 but only a slip and the stud was booked on a flight interstate the next day and the result was no puppies.

I also have 1 bitch that was not bred until day 28 >>> she was a nightmare.

i call the one that goes to 20-30's the canadian cause thats what the canadian vets use, but with my vet also canadian we use american scale. forget what science calls them but its  sort of pound vs. kg.
i think you take the american system and multiply by 3.3 or something. roughly by 3.

9 on the "canadian" scale is roughly LH

yup i agree some bitches are nightmares... on the other hand, i have one female that has had 3 litters and all day 8 ovulation, bred 9-10 day and always huge litters

sounds like you may have a bit of a tricky one...these are the expensive ones:)

good luck

There are 2 scales of Progesterone used in NA, ng/ml (the one use by most labs) and
nmol/l.
1ng/ml = 3.18nmol/l.
You need about 2ng/ml for the LH surge and about 2 days later the female
should ovulate at about 4 to 5ng/ml.
I'm in Canada and my Lab uses ng/ml.
I get my results back in 24 hours.
So when talking Progesterone #'s you need to know what scale your lab is
using.
LH is 2ng/ml = 6.36nmol/l
Ovulation is 5ng/ml = 15.9nmol
