Raymond,
Did you ever think that when you start getting large numbers of people that you consider assholes that just maybe; here's a thought.......just maybe it's you?

I was at a party recently and a guy whom I didn't know and had never met before walked up to me and asked where I was from originally?  I replied, New York.  This guy says "are you a Yankees fan?"  I said "Yes, I like the Yankees."  The guy replies "well, I'm from Boston and you must be an asshole!  All Yankees fans are assholes!"

Obviously, there is a big rivalry between Yankees and Red Sox fans.  I replied "really"..and thought a few things but didn't say them, because the party was hosted by my wife's friends.  The guy then says " I bet you think all Red Sox fans are assholes, don't you?"  I replied "No, but I can tell you that I think one Red Sox fan is a real asshole."  The group of people standing there laughed at the guy and he walked away.  He was an asshole.

Raymond, you bring a lot of the criticism you get on yourself.  Don't be offended, but I find a lot of your posts to be way out there.  Are these the things that you would say or do at work, or in a large group of mixed company?  I really doubt it, at least I hope you'd have more sense.

JMO,

when I would walk our crazy nasty 1/2 pit bull killer, A## holes came out of the wood work........... they identified with that dog.

when I walk our GSD's a completely different group of people are drawn and again

when I walk our aussie yet another subset of people are drawn.......

take it for what it is.

Raymond,
I agree that some people at dog clubs can be snobby, elitist, and obnoxious.  But most are really nice, very friendly and helpful.  If you have a really great dog things are usually easier because people want you in the club.  If you are new to the sport with a good dog it becomes more challenging.  You have lots of little cliques with in clubs.  You have the show line folks, the working line folks, the mali people, the DS, the bull dog people, etc.  Each of them loves their particular breed or style and is often quick to joke everyone else.

I don't train with a club.  I haven't gone to a club to train in almost two years.  All I really need is a good helper and a place to train.  I am fortunate that I am friends with a National level decoy, have all of the equipment from blinds, jumps and many sleeves.  I also have lots of places that I can go train whenever I like.  We have a group of 5 or 6 people that get together every week and train and go home.  No BS, no dues, no nonsense.  Just serious training.  I can assure you that we are in it to help each other and support each other.  Every dog is really good so we don't joke each other's dogs.

I have often thought about starting a club, then I thought better of it.  I like the setup I have now.  When I did go to clubs I would watch the people and how they worked dogs.  There was always a group that stayed off to the side and critiqued everyone else.  It seemed they were the ones that needed to watch the training the most.

If you are serious about working your dog you need to visit several clubs, with out your dog at first.  Evaluate each one and then make a decision of which is the best fit for you and your dog.

FWIW,

Jim

Sorry Sue,

I was thinking of a post you put on another of the threads, in which you used filthy language, responding to one of Maggie's...In which I believe you thought she was implying that she wanted to use "vagina" to refer to you...In the post I am referring to, you used some pretty nasty language, which seems pretty pointless to me.  I am sorry that I mixed up threads, and I will immediately correct my above post to reflect the correct thread, since I was mistaken.  Thanks for pointing that out to me...

As far as chastizing Raymond for his thread, it doesn't matter to me whether a filthy word is spelled out or symbols are put in place of certain letters, it says what it says.  "Code Words", as you put it, don't change anything.  I didn't read the thread where you say that Maggie called you a vagina, although, since no one has disputed that, I will assume it to be fact.  If she did, it was inappropriate.  There's no call to insult people simply because you don't agree.  The reason I didn't say anything to Raymond is that although I don't agree with you on political issues, neither do I agree with Raymond, and I have no intention of debating the subject with him, primarily because a lot of his posts also tend to be somewhat nasty and rambling...Hard to follow and understand some of the time.  The title of this thread is inappropriate, and the subject matter is also, for that matter.  I stand by what I said in my above post that I have met a lot of people who own GSD, including a state police officer here...And that most of them are strongly opinionated, compassionate, and decent.  Am I incorrect on that?  Am I incorrect that some are clueless, and that others are just plain nasty and rude?

And I never called you out, nor did I call you a "he".  If you reread the last line of that post, I was specifically talking about palerider and HIS nasty posts.  I inserted your name (just like this, separated from the main subject of that line), simply stating, and truly, I might add, that you do use some filthy language, which is not a lie, not "chicken shit" of me at all.  My ears are not virgin, believe me, and they are still attached, firmly.  So you did misunderstand my intent, which was simply to point out that #1. Raymond was incorrect in his assessment of GSD owners in general; #2. That I'd rather have the political OTs than the palerider and gslover123 drama.  As for my political views, I don't make exceptions for people "with whom I tend to agree politically".   I do share some views with the conservative way, but I am very much my own person, and there is little I agree with when it comes to people who make statements that are rude, obnoxious, or contain filthy language, whether it be vulgar words, or "racial epithets".  I only responded to this thread the first time to point out point number one, above, and I am only responding this time to respond to your mistaken statements, and apologize to you, Sue, for my mistake, which I am certainly mature enough to do.

Your use of language, and raymond's, too, I imagine, is borne of frustration, and I have no intention of arguing with you over your political views, or Raymond's, or anyone else's for that matter.  I don't need to dip my toes into the nasty name-calling pool.  I know where you stand, and that's your prerogative.

A final thought...  If we all agreed on everything, this would be a very boring world, wouldn't it?

Yet again people who don't know their hind end from a hole in the ground are taking the worst examples and using them to label everyone. Big surprise.

Yep, I'm an a-hole. Whatever.

Really?  wow, OK,  what an "apology".  Love how you made sure to get your licks in by  lumping me in with RayRay, really left me all warm and fuzzy inside.  You are  entitled to your opinion of me,  that's certainly your prerogative.  Believe me, I have  formed one of you as well.  I read somewhere you said something to the effect that  you think you are a pretty good judge of character and can judge people by what they post.  We have that in common, you and I.

If you are ever so inclined, use the search function and go to town looking up exactly who has said what when it comes to blue language, you might be surprised to find out exactly who is spouting what, and who is not.

I'll tell you a couple things I never do.  I don't make nasty little digs about people who are not present to defend themselves, I make sure if I have something to say about someone I say it to them.  And I also never make half assed,  insincere, apologies.
