As stated earlier "American Airlines" DOES NOT allow pets in the cabin,on international flights. Also so far as the heat goes, they do not have dates "blocked off" like an earlier post said Delta does. If on a connecting flight, the temperature is above 85 degrees F anywhere along your route to destination, it is a no-go on the cargo compartment. Not because the airplane is not airconditioned and unpressurized, but because the temperture on the tarmac(ground area with all the concrete and asphalt) reaches temperatures as high as 40 degrees above the ambient temperature and that is very dangerous for animals waiting on connections 3-5 hours or more.

Delta and Continental Airlines are excellent with the dogs and puppies. They are climate controlled and handle the animales with great care. The people have always been very nice and concerned about the animals flying with them.. American is Ok but not as good as Delta. I know many other breeders who also use Delta and Continental and have been very pleased. I have delt with all 3 many times and American would be at the bottom of my list. I have a few friends that work for these airlines, so i know who to use and who not to. With delta you will be in good hands shipping your puppy and the puppy will arrive safely. Same with Continental. GOOD LUCK
