I know of several women who have found the man of their dreams and married them all because of the internet.  Not all lonely people are nut cases but do be careful.  Be very careful.  If anything makes you hesitate, listen to your inner voice.  It will tell you when to run.  Do not ignore it!

Seriously here, if you are going to go meet your new found friend, please take someone with you!  Also tell your family before you leave and all contact info for your friend.  You can do a background check online for around $50 if you are really concerned for your safety.  Please do not go alone, its not worth your life.

Jen - your parents would probably not be happy, as you know, guys on the internet can tell you whatever they want (happens on here all the time) and it will be no where near the truth. 

If he sends you a pic of a good looking guy, he may be some fat perveted slob.  Have you actually met him in person yet?  If you haven't, the first meeting would be wise to do with your parents present.

I never understood the internet dating thing myself, but some do have good luck with it.  Your parents love you (alot more than he does) so please, just sit them down and be honest with them.  They only have your best interests at heart.
