Wow! 85 sounds balmy/fabulous!

Yeah, but the deerflies were eating us alive!  Great BIG suckers, too!!     While I was sititng in the SUV cooling off after the track, the were just literally hurling themselves against the vehicle in a total frenzy!  It was scary to watch.

I think I am in Hell - it is so hot..and the bug's - OMG.... The sun isn't even up in the morning when I go tracking.  I still hear the crickets....it is only 85 at  3 in the morning....hard to lay a track when it is that dark...lol. you do what ya gotta do....I don't go quite that early - sun not up but it is about 5 am when I am tracking....

I go to my club 3 times a week - at night - starts at 7 pm - it is hot - and doesnt seem to get any cooler - We got a big fan on the sitting area - keeps those bugs at bay and dries our sweat....dogs getting lots of water short training sessions...

When I am not at the club - I am training  ob in my living room, kitchen and hallway - AC on full blast.

Alabama has got the humidity as well as the heat and that makes it even hotter - so my hair is frizzy as well....

I am in hell - I just know it....

I keep wondering where to move when I win the lottery. PNW sounds OK, but I think I'd get depressed with so much clouds/rain so much of the time.  Guess I'll have to buy my own little island where it doesn't get above 80 during the day or drop below 40 at night. Is there such a place?

Okie, you could always move north, and become a 'snowbird' when winter sets in! That's what my mom does. Unfortunately, their trailer park in Florida doesn't allow dogs over a certain height. Their springer was okay, but a GSD wouldn't be allowed. It's a really nice spot, though!

Hey Sueincc:  nice mats- Price difference between the two sites is way off - I like the 19.95 - has any body used these - do they really work - and how do they taste - cause my dog's eat everything I put in with them...is there anything inthem that will leak out when they chew on it.

I will go to that island as well when you find it - I'll take a coconut rum and orange juice to give the beach I am rolling around on a even more tropical feel.....

That's what I have been afraid of re the cooling pads. My guys are all destructo-dogs and any bedding short of stainless steel is confetti in short order. I have just thrown a half bag of ice in the crates and let them lay in and crunch on it. They love that.

Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Lousiana are all out of the question - anywhere my swimming loving dogs are in danger of being eaten by alligators is OUT!

I remember the summer of 1980. It hit 113 in Dallas. But it was a dry heat.

It was.....quite memorable.

I can't remember exact stats, but I know we went at least 45 days with no rain and temps reaching (or in most cases, exceeding) 100 degrees.

I remember one day we hit 109. Me, my GSD at the time and my two cats were all holed up in my bedroom where the air conditioner had at least a whisper of a chance of bringing the temp below 90.  When cats are laid out panting INDOORS, you know it's bad.
