Unfortunately, not everyone practices in torrential downpours/thunder storms. I felt awful for a couple of people out in that. We were just licky the golf-ball-size hail some of the tracking teams drove back in missed the stadium.

I'm with you, beetree.  Impressive to compete in conditions that are far from your norm, even if you have occasionally practiced in it.  A young lady I know moved 1.5 years ago to Seattle and she says yes, it rains so much, but the good ol' INTENSITY of the eastern downpours isn't there.   And thunderstorms?  They don't even happen.  So BIG props to Mark and Joker.

It was a veritable gully washer yesterday!

There's rain, and then there are these Eastern thunderstorms which leave you looking for your breathing gear. The rain came down so fast and furious that it flooded the kennels, a river ran through my backyard, the pool collected 4" of water within one hour, and you couldn't see the shed 20 yards across the driveway. Two homes in the valley were hit by lightning and caught on fire.Creeks overflowed their banks, roads were flooded and the power went out - pretty much SOP throughout the summer here.

We left the stadium about an hour before the storm came. I cannot imagine anyone being on the field while that piece of weather was going on!

I can't believe they didn't stop the trial performances during the violent T-storm. I would have a hard time penalizing a dog for leaving the long-down or the send out to run for cover in the kind of storm we were pelted with yesterday, we humans too stupid to do so and take the dog with us! Even those of us with umbrellas got soaked from the rain splashing off the pavement as we ran for cover.

I hate PA.

We are forecast to get a t-storm at about 1pm today, and a real gully-washer at 7pm. Perfect conditions for a very SHORT awards ceremony at the stadium.

To their credit, brave photographer (Mike Dailey)  and videographer  SHELLSHOTS risked life and equipment, held fast their ground, throughout the deluge yesterday! When it comes time for the contestants who were on the field to describe the tragic conditions they drew, and laugh about it someday (MAYBE)  those videos and photos are going to come in really handy.

The things we do and endure, for the love of the sport, never cease to amaze me. Me? California Girl? I hide under the bed with the first clap of thunder! My dogs just peer under to chastise me with looks that say "What the f^@k is WRONG with you??? Its a damned good thing YOU don't have to pass a BH!"

Then again, I knew I was not breed-worthy a long time ago... just another nerved-out show line bitch, me... It takes a heck of a stable dog to keep me from running off the field during the gun shot test, choking on my tail on my way to parts unknown at break-neck speed.
"Are you with me here, Shel? Don't blow it for us here., dammit"

As far as I know, only golf-addicts put their lives at risk in t-storms on a regular basis. We lose a lot of them (dumb-asses)  to lightening strikes every year. Sucks when our dogs are smarter than we are, so often the case. Ha ha ha.

Whewww!   Sounds like I got lucky too, left about 1:30 I guess and the skies were starting to look pretty ominous!

Kathy did show up with an adorable human baby. Auntie Shelley doesn't know from nothing about babies, but That one is really beautiful.

Awww thanks!   Glad we got out of there in the nick of time it seems.  As being out there with a infant is an entirely different story!

Any news from today?

BTW-  there were LOTS of awards for LOTS of special achievements: High dog of each breed, club, High in each phase, Sportsmanship,  Helper's Favorite (gotta love that one)...

Phil Hoelcher gets my vote for Sexiest Man Alive. Boy-oh-Boy, can that man move.
I remember he did have a nice dog, but I can't remember what it looked like.

Wicked, WICKED Auntie Shelley just may have been indulging in some seriously naughty thoughts.
How far is it to Atlanta from here again?
