I don't know, I kinda thought Vikram was being sarcastic.

Ibrahim, you have one of each, correct?  and you have noticed the differences between them.  Just because it is a workingline, doens't mean it is going to be hard, tough, and all the things they are supposed to be.  The same with your showline, she may have qualities you prefer.  Alot depends on the dog and how it lucked out on genetics.

Ibrahim:

Although I,ve never seen him work my information is second hand but if your looking for good conformation and working abality look at a dog like Boy Von Zorra most recently, To me this is the type of dog that the breed standard points to.

Thank you all, I think differences and what caused them are more clear for me now, at least what amateure needs to know.

Regards

Ibrahim

"Very good working-line dogs seem almost suicidal. :)"

I think this is the best statment and explanation I ever seen. lol And I have to agree with it 100%.

But back on topic:

Dog is out of showline or out of working lines weather the dog is working dog or show dog will depend on a lot of things:

It's genetics (yes there can be good showline that is good working dog, as well as there can be a worknig line that is good show dog)
It's handler (if you wont work your dog even working line will be nothing but bed represantation of its abilities, while if a dog out of showline has a handler that is working the dog on regular basis will out perform the other one).

So keep in mind dog is out of show or work lines that dose not mean that the dog is working or show dog, that will be determine later in its life. ;)

Not every littermate is equal to the other, so weather the dog will be more active or not will depend on a lot of things. But yes working lines are more active, they pretty much stay active till they are exosted and than drop where they were standing ;)

Comments as above show a complete misunderstanding of the general value and understanbing of the breed as it is supposed to represent that is a "working breed"

The basic difference in my amaturish way, and IMHO all begins and ends with the bite.

Ibrahim,

I was trying to give you a 101 class on the basic differences and why they came about, not meant to be an exact science on one or the other.  There are working dog lines that are closer to what show line people like and vise versa.  I was attempting to answer your statement (it is still a dog).  I have a friend that refuses or is unable to see the role genetics plays in breeding, so my attempt was to explain this difference.

You can start to study dogs, temperaments, bloodlines, how to train or shape a dogs genetics the best you can today, and 50 years from now you will still have more questions then when you started.  The more you learn, the more you will realize how much you don't know, and this is the way it should be.  Good luck and enjoy the ride.

I personally have both, working and show. My show line is really not lazy at all as someone had mentioned. I would invite you to come into my backyard if that is the case. My showline is an Ober Von Bad Boll sired male and has not a drop of laziness in him and his bite is fantastic! IMO, the showline are little beefier and the working line a bit smaller and that is good for agility. My working line is Grando vom Weinbergblick. Both lines have their advantages and disadvatages is my opinion. My working line is more nimble for the sleeve and can jump a little higher. But to say that they showline is lazy is a comment out of left field. None of my dogs just stand there to be pretty. They ALL love to work and are anxious to do it as soon as we are on the field. I believe it is more of the breeding. yes, I have seen some that are a bit "weak" but I think that is also from the raising. i spend 4 hours daily with my dogs in training and such and weekends much more. But again, I invite you to come into my backyard without me knowing and I have to say good luck!
