I also had my local vet x-ray my bitch result 10 or 12 x-rays later (very long anesthetic took ages to wake up) the vet told me she had hip displasia and even discussed procedures for surgery.
Had them redone at a specialist vet, also using the digital x-ray machine, she has excellent hips, all done and on the way home in less than an hour.
Well worth traveling the extra distance and paying just a little much more.
