Good to hear Star is back to her old self.  Didn't realize it was all grass.  Did they check Ranger's stool for anything?  You might want to feed him some plain yogurt to help get the bacteria in his intestines balanced.  Funny, I read about your problems, go home to find out my girl had diarrhea and pooped in the house for the first time ever.  My husband said she never even asked to go out and was acting funny.  We had strangers in the house installing a new air conditioner ($$ OUCH) and it may have upset her some.  I checked on her in her crate and found she had vomited her last treat so took her outside and she had watery diarrhea.  A few minutes later she had bloody diarrhea.  She was acting very clingy and not her usual bouncy self so I was freaking out.  Since this was after hours the only place to take her was the emergency vets.  I took the last fecal sample with us.  They took her temp which she took great offense to and no longer wanted to be friends with the vet tech.  She was running a slight fever at 104 so they wanted to do some blood work.  Unfortunately the tech couldn't find a vein (she must have been new) but after poking at her 4 times my husband lost his cool and told them to leave her alone we were leaving.  Poor little dog was stressed, husband was stressed, I was stressed.  We paid our bill, they said they found some kind of bacteria in her stool that indicated things were out of whack and told us to take her to her regular vet today for antibiotics.  It was a long night, she was a little clingy this morning but ate her breakfast and is tearing the house apart, back to her old self.  My husband is going to talk to the vet to see if we can just feed her yogurt or do we need to bring her in.  Will let you know how that goes.

Oh!  and how exciting that you may get the transplant.  Too bad the hearing aids aren't doing the job.  If they say you are a canidate I think I agree, save your money on the aids and go for the transplant and good luck to you on that!
