Uber Land,

If you weren't there, how can you be critical of bitework you did not witness?

I also thought Yasso was amazing.  Excellent, excellent  work.

I love the hue and cry form people who were not there.  The critiques on the dogs, the protection and the quality of the field... wow, all from the comfort of your own home.

Thing is, I don't know that there can ever be a Seiger Show that somebody is not going to complain about.  It is a huge event, clubs and exhibitors are all stressed and most people don't give a hoot about that, they expect accomodating, friendly people.

The quality of the field is never going to suit everybody.  The protection work is certainly never going to please everybody and the physical show itself will leave somebody cold.

Has anybody figured out yet that it is all subjective?  If you went, and were not happy, please say so with specific complaints and perhaps some suggestions.

It is pointless to bemoan the dogs that went VA- they looked the best to the judges in that time and place.  If you dont like them, don't breed to them or buy progeny.

Back to chewing the Nicoderm patch for me!

"I wasn't there and I consider the show disappointing.  Dogs who should have failed went VA and dogs who did great performance test ect, only got V."

Oh, for gosh sake.

This would be really funny if it wasn't so very sad.  And typical.  Uber land, what a statement to make!  You weren't there, you didn't see, but you KNOW the placements were wrong.  Uh, how do you know this?

I talked to people who were there.
if a dog walks to a helper for a bite, crawls to the blind with his belly 2 inches off the ground, would you give him a VA?
thats all I am saying.

Caliber vom haus Huro and Cassidy vom haus Huro both recieved their VP rating at the show this past weekend.  Was very exciting to see it happen and we are proud of both pups.  Here's some pics of Caliber from the weekend.   Thanks for the pictures, Jen and Gabby : - }

From where I sat it all looked fine.

From where you sat, what looked fine, the ring work or the performance test?

Phil,

I think maybe Shelly is trying to be funny....if not, I am at a loss for words.

I posted my observations on another thread. Below is how things looked from my perspective and I had my contacts on and was on the field.

------------------------------------------------------

I sure hope someone was making a video of the protection. That way everyone will see that based on what I saw on video from last year and what I saw live this year, unfortunately NOTHING has changed as far as how the dogs are being judged.

One female literally ran off the field twice and got a 3rd chance to restart and guess what......she passed!!.  Lots of really nervy females hanging on by a tooth and after outing backed away from the helper, looked around nervously for their handler to come to their aid. Unless a dog blatently came off with a stick hit, they were passed, handlers were handed their pink  pronounced or sufficient paper, raised it in the air in victory $$$$   and were cheered by the crowd.  What a great new generation of GSD's we can expect.....

Males were generally better but lots fussing with their bellies 3 inches from the ground and grips for the most part were bad.  Not as awful as the females but lots of gifts were given IMO.

Watched the protection practice  which was quite interesting. Handlers had their time on the field  to get their dogs used to the helpers of course. Seemed quite a few used the time to try and fix problems. One in particular comes to mind but I guess the handler does not realize that you cannot fix temperament and her dog earned an insufficient in the bitework since she came off the sleeve with a stick hit and ran from the helper. Another handler comes to mind telling the helpers over and over "no pressure, no pressure"

Helper work was good I thought.

During the awards ceremony many of the females were darting around wide eyed looking spooked. Generally, the males looked better.

Both of the only workingline dogs entered in the show were awarded two of the six outstanding protection awards.

This was the first Sieger Show that I have attended and tried to look at things objectively.

Not a good idea to compare live and video.  You say this is your first Seiger show, yet you are comparing this year and last.

I guess we all have an opinion.  I have some complaints about the performance of some of the humans but, in my opinion the dogs all went above and beyond.

Some failed and that is always sad to see but I did not see any who passed who shouldn't have.  Sometimes you have to trust that the judge sees better than we do.

" I did not see any who passed who shouldn't have".

Maybe you need to go read the rule book in regards to the performance tests at Sieger shows and after you do read it then  just maybe you might refrase your ridiculous comment.
