Um, folks...did you guys know prices are sometimes GEOGRAPHIC? K9 Cuisine is always less than any food I'd actually feed my dogs sells for in a store near me. But, I don't live in the backwoods somewhere; I live in a huge suburb that will support that kind of pricing, so that's what we get charged.
LMAO. You all make it sound like manufacturers set a price for retailers and all areas charge the same.
Wellness Core is about $67 at the Petco near me. K9 cuisine has it for $57. Supposedly their regular price is $71, but I've never seen it for that, and even so, it's only a few dollars more than in the store. If you are only ordering one bag, and it's the same or more expensive than you can buy it locally, then fine. But when your order often is over $1000, you can't tell me that I'm not coming out ahead by having it shipped...free.
Plus, you have access to a lot of different premium brands that can be hard to find.

I thought most that have "free shipping" added surcharges to anything over a certain weight.....and I'm also sure that the dogs we have our dog food would exceed that weight would it not? I started to order a few bags of food one time online because it said free shipping on orders over $50, and got to the end of the process to find they had surcharges......Or do all of the companies not have surcharges?

by Jenni78 on 27 March 2009 - 20:03
No, they don't all have surcharges. I even split the orders between my house and my friend's house out of state b/c he has 2 of my dogs right now. They don't even charge me for having two separate destinations.
WHERE DO YOU ALL LIVE THAT THINGS ARE SO CHEAP???!!

Guess NY is a lot cheaper than Chi-town. You're only one person; where does everyone else live that pays so little? I sometimes spend $500+ per month on food. My dogs cost me more than my horses, by far.

Where in Chicago do they have suburbs close to the city where you can have enough land to have horses in sounds great

So, I've been blindly buying the premium holistic foods for me dawgs... uber expensive... and it just struck me.... I've never done the research....
are there any sites that show increased health or longevity from premium, holistic or raw foods? Intellectually, I understand the concept of feeding high quality foods - but I've never actually seen any studies that show an increase of health, or decrease of disease from the food...
...are there any good studies or sites I can peruse?

luvdemdogs, are you serious? Can't you just look at the results in front of you and see all you need to see? Hell, I can spot a dog on shitty food (or smell it) a mile away.
Blair built gsd...my horses are not at home-yet! I'm working on that. I'm 45 mins from the city, and 25 from my horses. You COULD have land much closer, but it would cost literally millions.

You don't need to be facetious. If I had the answer, my dear, I wouldn'thave posted the question. I have nothing to compare to as I have always used premium foods. So, what you're saying is that you can smell a difference in the feces? So what? A different smell does not necessarily mean the food is bad for the dogs. I'm actually looking for something scientific - studies, etc that show the health related differences.
Can anyone else take a crack at it - or have we all been too complacent?
