Many things in the TV show did ring a bell with me......... such as health issues, the created bottle neck in the Gene pool, some statements about the "who is who" in the whole game. Frustrating to see that a member with a female , that placed at the top of many shows (incl. LG shows) gets withdrawn by their owner, because all of a sudden, this female wont even place midfield in Aachen anymore ! The guy was so upset, that he even committed that the dog is not sick, I wonder if he had trouble with the SV.
Aqua, many things were done wrong in the dealings with Hr. Raiser by the SV. In many parts Mr. Raiser also made mistakes in his dealings with the SV. It came to a point where a productive work inverioment was not there anymore. So you guys started RSV2000, you know what, good for you. We have the luxory to live in a free country, and to do what we are set to do. I do not see the RSV2000 as a threat, lets see what the future brings, then we will find out if the grass is really greener on the other side of the fence. Sorry to hear that your puppy is sick, bad things do happen. Sadly enough, I have to tell you, that if you really believe that this would not have happened under RSV2000 guidelines, you will have a rough awakening at some point. Even you guys cannot breed, and mantain a registry without the SV. You wont ask for help, and you condem the SV, but sure enough, you are willing to use the info provided by the SV.
The statement of Mr. Raiser is not very wise, there are dogs of all lines that wont cut the corner, whether they are out of working- or showlines.
The TV show leaned pretty hefty one way, showing the bad parts and health problems. I wonder why they did not have numbers to back theire alligations. It was not mentioned that there are thousands and thousands healthy GSD's running around. Maybe I missed it, there was no mentioning of all the work involved to have a breeding animal, neither did they mention that it is mandatory for us to have our animals x-rayed. It was pretty much about the bad aspects that come with our breed. Do I like these ? Most certainly not, and yes, it can be frustrating at times. Do i believe that the "negative part" vanishes, just because the RSV2000 was founded ? Again, I wish the RSV200 luck, and hopefully that there will the chance to work together, once these childish rival fights have vanished.......... in about a 100 years ??!!

Thank you for your good wishes for RSV2000.
Being in the U.S. I was not able to see the program but, since its title was, loosely translated, "Is the German Shepherd dog an invalid - the end of a German ledgend?" I'm not surprised that the producers focused on health issues in the breed.
Do you know whether it's possible to acquire a DVD of this documentary viewable on USian systems?

Maybe I am wrong. This is what I have found out in the few years that I am engaged in the breeding.
In any case, there was a discussion goind on and I stated my opinion. Everyone can have an opinion don't you think?
As for the "ATTENTION SEEKER" classification this is my second thread in this matter, look who has posted the most and find out about ATTENTION SEEKING.
David, I just think that in this case you are being mean. This does not mean you are a bad person, you are only exaggerating trying to force your opinion.
Your point was noted. Why should I disagree? Would you change your mind?
So, this is what I think. If it is not true then I am more than happy. However, things are not only black or white. There are also shades of grey in between...
I will rest my case here. I do not feel like being shot by anyone for just stating an opinion...
All the best
Petros

How frustrating! I've watched the whole programme, but I don't understand much of the German language. Some parts were obvious but I'd have liked to understand all of it.
Thanks for the link tho'.

Who would argue the case that GSDs of today are not as they used to be? EXPLAIN DIFFERENCE
Who can say that the health problems that arise in the GSDs of today regarding skeletal & tamperament problems have not increased significantly? STATISTICS PLEASE
Who can say that a breed where there is over-breeding is not slowly destroyed? STATISTICS PLEASE
Are the labs of today the same as those of the past? INNUENDO.?
May I also ask, why such a high linebreeding takes place despite the increase of the genne-pool? Is it not for breeders worldwide to have fast and stable results? GENETIC NONSENSE
And, while the GSD is considered to be the most controlled breed in the world regarding Hip, elbows, tamperament what is the true picture? INUENDO DOES NOT EQUAL FACTS
Ask any German breeder about how they raise their puppies: THOUSANDS OF THEM? They switch the nutrition of their puppies to adult food at early age (even at 10 weeks), STATISTICS PLEASE, they provide their puppies with supplements containing glucosamine, chondroitin, vitamin E, gelatin, vitamin C, etc. STATISTICS PLEASE, They do not leave them jump, they keep them on soft floors, and they do not allow them to play with more than 1 dog at a time...these among others. HOW MANY HAVE YOU GATHERED THIS ASSERTIVE INFORMATION FROM?
If you mention that to a prospective new GSD owner who does not know what is going on, the first question that will come in his mind is: Is my new puppy sick? YOUR GLIB ASSERTIONS ABOVE ARE MEANT TO SHOCK!
The GSDs of today have definately deteriorated. FULL STATISTICS MUST SUPPORT SUCH AN ASSERTION = NONE GIVEN, Still, they remain a stable value among other breeds but the difference has now become much less...PERSONAL ASSUMPTION
So, I would be so skeptical and let things evolve and see what happens....YOU HAVE NO STATS TO BACK UP YOUR ASSERTIONS, Don't you think so David (Videx)? I think you totally fail to offer meaningful stats to support your personal and negative assertions about our breed, and breeders etc. FACTUALLY UNSUPPORTED PERSONAL SOUNDBITE SENSATIONALISM
