Ok, why do you say that? Are the title requirements watered down?

WDS was simply the AKC's attempt to placate the SV and WUSV who have given the AKC a deadline for comforming to the international standard, among other things. The GSDCA, after whining that it needed more time for years, has now stated flatly that it is not going to bring its standard into keeping with the rest of the world.
I always advise joining USA, although membership in both is entirely possibe--you can belong to both.
IMO, USA is the "gold standard" for schutzhund and for working breeds in the US. It is the organization that from the outset to present has stood for the maintenance of the gsd as a working breed, has for decades required clubs to hold trials (without the USA trials, even the WDA diehards would often be hardpressed to title their dogs). The ties with the AWDF and "sister clubs" make the maintenance of working breeds a joint effort and makes trials even more available. My club is a DVG club, also a AWMA (American Working Malinios Association) and USA club. We are able to schedule trials in all three venues and it makes securing judges easier-- USA, GSSCC, FCI, DVG,SV.
USA's judges program has been not only the model for other AWDF clubs, in some cases it has been the actual requirement.
I would describe WDA as more show-oriented than USA, although both hold shows, surveys and a Sieger Show. WDA has now developed the same programs as USA: helper classification/certification, judges, "a' stamp program, etc. While USA has an actual judges program with requirements for entry and performance requirements stated openly, WDA has in some instances merely taken "defrocked" USA judges and licensed them. If there is an actual WDA judges program, there is no transparency about it-who is in it, what are the requirements for entry, performance, etc. that one can see from the organization's website. So, I tend to discount it.
I would suggest that you check the organization's websites, bylaws (on the websites) and policies to make your own determination about which to join.

All you need for a WDA trial is a WDA or SV/FCI scorebook. The requirements for titles are the same.
Your AKC reg. is fine for getting your scorebook.
