Nichole,
I was just in the woods yesterday, two new tick bites..uhg.
Was being lazy and didn't use my permanone. The dogs have their frontline now so thats taken care of for the month.
It could be your parents but it could also be great great grandma. And I do believe environment plays a roll down throught the generations too.
And it may skip the next generation.
Now that warm weather is here I tend to go to the river instead of the woods, less worry of ticks and more open ground for the dogs to run and they do love the water. I can work on my tan....:)
The river is where I find all of the basket balls my dogs love so much also. Some kids wondering, where'd my ball go!
You wouldn't believe whats on the banks of our rivers sometimes.
Moons.

I can only respond about my dog, yes I believe it is genetic, but I wouldnt not say it is a deficiency, it is an exagerated response to alligans, the immune system goes into 'overdrive' and starts attacking the dogs own body. Mine as severe ones and in the past I have nearly lost him, I have also considered him being pts. when he was at his worsest. I tried Atopica he even had a bad response to that. In my dogs case the only thing that as worked is steroids.
His COI is fairly low at 3.7%, but both his partenal and maternal grsires are inbred on the same dogs and their COI is high, one at 10% and 8%, I know of a dog in Denmark with the same paternal line that also as severe allergies.
