I stopped using RC GSD for the same reason. Canidae too.
I like Eagle Pack Holistic but can't affordit for all the dogs.
Don't like Eukanuba GSD formula (too much corn) but the Performance and Sporting formulas are still not too bad.

We used Eagle Pack for about a year, but all of a sudden all 3 of my dogs went off of it at the same time. We changed to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. Which is working. Tast of the Wild is a good food, but is much more expensive.

some foods cause dog's hair to turn red....

Bob,YES R\C has in fact changed the formula. They have now added pork meal and wheat gluten to it as well as lowering the fat and a couple other changes. You will see the new gold bag soon as they must use up the old bags.

Eagle Pack Holistic is what I use also. I found out from them that the Holstic brand is the only one they make and package at THEIR plant. Any other food they produce maybe packaged off site. I use to use RC, I think my dogs look better with the Eagle. My Rottie has spine issues and he use to wince every time he got up, the vet told me I might have 2 years with him. After the change in the food he no longer winces all the time. I think it is the Omgea in the salmon. He is alot more active and I have to watch him, if he does to much he does go back to the wincing upon getting up.  He is still truckin strong and I love every grey hair he gets. He is one of those once in a lifetime bonding dogs, Althou I have male GSD 11 months that so reminds me of him, I might have gotten REALLY lucky.
