This doesn't excuse your dog from biting but lots of people don't know how to aproach a dog.
I had a friend try to stare down my shepherd when he met him. What an idiot. He barked and lunged a little but
I had him on leash so all was ok. A gsd is protective of their family. That being said yours does need work.
Good luck.

Maybe he was afraid-socialization is key-he would need to be evaluated to see his body language and yours when people are around-if he is afraid and he showed warning signs that he was afraid and YOU did not recognize themthen he felt he needed to take care if matters himself.
The guy reached over his is head to pat him ( dogs generally do NOT like people reaching over their heads-especialy strangers.
I usually stand and talk to people with my dogs by my side in a sit-and there is really no need for people to touch them anyway-but it is good to show them that you can stop and chat and move on with out a problem-soon they will trust that WE are in charge and we know what we are doing-treat with meat or turkey each time you are near a stranger-and only when you are near one or talking to someone-even let feed him- if it is fear based-that should counter the problem. Talk to a good behavior trainer! Good Luck!

Ok this situation really bugs me and it has been taljked about before .what is this fucking need you people have of other people petting your fucking dog.one idiot says, prpole do not know how to approch dogs but does not give your dog excuse to bite.do you fucking hear yourself what yopu are saying think about it.anything can be wrong you are running a dog he may be tired or over heated and expereiencing a bad day i mean anything how the fuck would you know what a dog is thinking at any given time.this is very irresponsible of you.you should know your dog and if you do not now then this is a great reason why you should not let other people pet your dog.Obedience is not the answer for your fucking stuidity. do i sound mad, what you think .some days i just can not take stupid people.that is my weakness. have a nice one.

I disagree, obedience IS the answer. I get the feeling this isnt some hardcore high level workign dog ro K9, this is the ladies' pet, and the she WILL get sued and she WILL lose her dog if this behavior continues. A nine month old puppy should not display this kind of behavior.
The sad truth is, the average pet owner with a protective breed really has to idiot-proof their dog these days. Yes, a dog can absolutely be taught to tolerate something that they don't like. I dont go around punching people in the face because I have a bad day or I'm tired. I will agree you should not let people pet your dog unmuzzled until you have been working to resolve the issue with a trainer who has real experience in dealing with aggression.

Held,
I know how you feel, even if I mildly disagree with your responce, but when I called someone a( fucking idiot )it was deleted.
I'm starting to feel like I was picked on unfairly. I wanna curse too....:(
Without seeing the dog or being there all I can do is say maybe, but there is a problem for sure.
The dog, the owner, or the guy hiself, take your pick.

So now you are gonna tell me that dogs think like you.one of the main difference between humans
and other animals is our ability to think logically, rationally.also there are people in the world going around killing other pepole and punching and stabbing all the time because they had a bad day. what world do you live in are you on the same planet as evry one else?.just cause you do not do it ,does not mean it does not happen all the time.is every one in the world like you who fucking thinks like that.any dumbass can have an opinion it is a free world, but the difference is your opinion has to be educated opinion and not just cause you want to have an opinion.that is the problem with pet people they do not bother to learn about what they have first ,but they want every one to pet their pets.very irrisponcible.it is too bad that eventually some really good animals get put down because people are so fucking stupid and can not think logically.you have not come across a real dog with real agression. As
