GSDkatrina

by GSDkatrina on 06 March 2009 - 18:03

I am so sorry:(

I lost two GSD's that were 13 and 12 in the past 5 years I had since pups -I loved them so much as we all do and I swore I  would never go through the pain of losing another beloved dog in my life-I waited and I grieved and I realized -I would never  have felt that much pain if I had never felt so much love.
So I did it again:)

hugs,
Karina

When they live to old age it's still not long enough.  When we lose them so young it's so unfair and it awlays seems like the best ones leave us way too soon.  So sorry for you, hang in there

Think it was Mark Twain who said....  "Most dogs live too short, and people much too long"

My thoughts are with you in this... what breed your dog is doesn't effect the hollow loss we all feel when they are gone.

So very sorry to hear of your loss. No matter how many times we go through it, it just doesn't get any easier. My thoughts are with you and yours.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it is never easy. I'll pass on to you some things my Oma told me when I was young and lost my first dog....

Dogs are Guardian Angels sent here to us to learn a special lesson, when they have completed their learning to the good Lord's satisfaction, he calls them home because they have another, important job to do. So some lucky soul has a wonderful Guardian Angel to watch out for them.

My Oma says dogs are touched by God, if you are ever curious as to how God looks upon you, gaze into the eyes of your dog. As to why their lives are so short, they are born knowing those things our soul takes so long to learn.

Your's is lucky she had you, I am sure she learned so many important things and showed her how good humans can be.

Cee I'm sorry for your heartache. Please take comfort in knowing she was loved and came to you so she could be taken care as best as could be.

Karina, I'm glad you have chosen to risk again. I think the best way we can honor those who have shared our life is to be willing to risk loving again.

Mindhunt, I think your Oma is a very wise woman. I have to share a story that was just told to me last night.  I had gone to Mass of course accompanied by Remy ( my service dog). Usually afterwards other parishioners will come over to admire Ms. Remy and smooze on her etc. Last night was no exception. This older woman came over and said how beautiful and well behaved she was.  Then she said to me - "she reminds me of the dogs that were used during the Pope's visit" and tells me a story I had not heard before. It seems that during his visit the Pope wanted to go into a small chapel for some private quiet time but it was not a building that had been "cleared".  So they quickly brought up a security dog ( which from this woman's descrpition must have been a GSD) to clear the chapel.  Which he did BUT when he was through he went back and sat in front of the tabernacle and barked. ( The tabernacle is where we keep consecrated hosts which we believe are the physical presence of God). When told, the pope was not at all surprised and said of course the dog knows someone is at home here.

Cee hold onto those wonderful memories and when the time is right you will be sent another wonderful guardian angel.

Cee, I'm so sorry for your loss - I just lost two of mine within the month of February, so I know how painful it is right now.  I want to pass on to you something from one of my vet co-workers - her dad is a minister and he told her that they all become angels and do God's work. They are pure of heart, and have no evil in them, so God takes them close and gives them their wings. I loved that and found it gave me great comfort. Kind of goes along with the Pope story from TIG...

Everyone here has been so kind in helping me show the world how special my Astra was. This was very important to me. I  am having a hard time re-defining myself at this older stage in my life. Again thank you all for helping me with this very hard task.

Always,
Cee

I tell everybody the same thing at times like this...
No dog will ever fill the hole in your heart Astra left, but a puppy will usualy dig a new one that fits THEM perfectly if you give them a chance. there are a lot of wonderful dogs in the world who really need and deserve a loving home like yours.

She's waiting at the Bridge. she won't mind if you bring company.
