K9 Dreamz

by K9 Dreamz on 27 February 2009 - 22:02

#5 arrived after I pushed enter on my last post. another med sable male.

I have never had a litter like this, actually the exact opposite.  My litters have been like this:  2001 :8F, 1M.    3F 1M.   2002: 2F 1M     4F 1M.  2003 7F 2M.      2004 6F 1M.    and 2006 4F 1M, 2007 4F 2M  and 2008 4F1M, and 6F 2M.  I was expecting a bunch of females and male or two but not 4M 1F so far.  Will be nice for a change.... My life is surrounded by boys LOL....
Will post pics as soon as Sophie is done.  Her picture is on the right of my posts.

Congrats K9 Dreamz ! Where abouts are you in Montana? I am in the NW and it is nice here, partly cloudy with maybe 45 degrees... I haven't checked the actual temp but from being outside it feels about that. Glad I am not where you are, sick of winter here. We got about 4" of snow night before last and yesterday but it is melting quick.

I am in the NE Corner, in Scobey.  14 miles from Canada.  Might as well be in Canada!  its a bit warmer right now its Zero out.

We got about 30" by January and in February have gotten about 16 inches 10 of which we have gotten in the last few days.  I dont want more snow! or cold!

Yup I figured you were somewhere around there. Over the last couple days LookOut Pass got 26" of new snow. My hubby and son hit the slopes yesterday. I don't ski...Alot of snow up high still but not much here in the valley. Well good luck on your whelping.

I think we are done at 7 puppies, with almost an even split, 4M and 3F.  Not my normal litter in sexes, but am thrilled as they are so beautiful.  Sophie and I did well, LOL.  We have 1 Bicolor male(just like his daddy) and all the rest of the pups are Sable, they are very dark. Sables change so much but my best guess since Sables are my Favorite, is that I will have some really nice black sables and so really bright red sables.  I am not seeing any silvering in the pups at all, which suprises me, but again Sables change so much!

Sophie is doing very well and she is resting now as the pups are nursing happily.  One female is about 2/3 the size of the others, but she is the noisiest and a wiggler, so dont think she will be a runt long.

I will post pictures after I take a shower since my day was not in order as normal, so the shower is important to me at this point.  Anyways, pictures coming your way with in an hour.

Okay well #8 snuck himself in!  What a suprise when I started to change the whelping pads and pickup and move the puppies to a basket for a quick moment and find out we have 8 puppies.  As I put the puppies in the basket 8 puppies appear in their box.  Oh where did he come from and how long had he been there?  I am not sure he was dry, so I am guessing at least an hour.  Anyways we have 8 as of right this moment.  I have checked her and unless another is hiding like this guy we are done with 5 Males (2 Bicolor, 3 sable), 3 Females(all sable)  I am bummed a little that I didn't get a bicolor girl as that is what I really wanted for mysself.  Anyways here is a picture of 6 of them, all of them are sable except the one on the far right side kindof snuggled in.

Now I need J names, I would need K names but one of my litters last year was born at Saint Patricks Day so they had Irish names. Anyways, i would appreciate J names. Thanks in advance. I have a few female names picked out but only one J male name Jakob.  and I need more now.

Enjoy the picture and I will post more tomorrow, after i go get more batteries from my camera.  Have a great night, I am going to bed now, I am exhausted.

Well after I posted about the little #8 sneeking in. I went to the farm to do chores and eat supper with my Significant other.  At 1030 pm I arrived back home, and let Sophie out to potty, as she was pottying #9 arrived, she paniced as did I since it was -15 degrees and the windchill was 3 times that.  I ran to the pup grabbed it and we rushed back inside, I cleaned her off and dried her and she is fine.  Healthy happy and noisey.  Anyways we have 9 pups, 5 males and 4 females.  We are completely thrilled.
