My vote is Molly Graf at Eichenluft Kennel. http://workinggermanshepherd.com

I have one of her dogs and I hope to get another one in the future!!  When I was originally looking, I looked at a few breeders and her dogs all had what I was looking for:  Titles and certified hips, and she cares about where her dogs go.  This was important to me as my dog is my working companion and family member.

Bill Kulla/Jennifer Acevedo- www.kulladogs.com

Excellent breeders, work and title their own dogs, follow the SV rule for breeding. They stand behind all their pups and are very careful to match them with the right owners. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a workingline.

You have to add Sport Waffen to this list Nate Harves is putting together some very nice dogs and making excellent litters and his before and after help is top notch!!! Also It,s nice buying from a current competitor and helper i believe it gives them a unique eye for the dogs.

Also Van Meerhout in Texas Rob and Jessy  are good people to deal with.

I wholeheartedly second the recommendation of Claudia romard,  van Gogh kennels.

I am  not familiar with hausmailand.

However,  has everyone noticed the common "theme" in the other recommendations?  ALL are working line breeders who ACTUALLY WORK, TRAIN AND TITLE  their dogs!!  Again demonstrating what some advise newbies:  look to the breeders who are actually training and titling the dogs they are breeding.  They are the ones who truly do know the  temperaments, working abilities and work ethic, etc. of the parents.

Bob,

The problem is that lots, if not most, puppy buyers do buy from kennels that do not work the dogs.  They ship them off to Germany (or  California, or Conneticut  )  to be titled.   Once titled, they simply trot them around a show ring thereafter.  There are some working line breeders, albeit fewer) who also don't do the training themselves.  Some just buy good dogs from Europe and breed them.  At best, they hire someone else to handle a dog in trials, particularly national events, as part of their marketing.  But, they don't do diddly, aside from marketing and sales, themselves.

I never have and never will get a puppy from a breeder that doesn't work their dogs.  I won't get a puppy from a breeder who breeds tons of dogs, working line particularly, where I can see that no one in that breeder's own area works/titles any dogs from him/her.  Worse is the breeder-competitor who breeds tons and brokers lots of dogs, but never, or very seldom,  seems to breeds anything worth trialing/competing with him/herself.
