tracking is so so much easier to teach with food drive.. you really need to have both toy and food drive in your toolbox!!

Using food to teach the correct position is the only way. Dogs learn through conditioning and will 'hang' out where ever the reward is given. Therefore a toy is not as ideal. Add the clicker to the equation and you will meet with success! Approx 30 food rewards can be given in one minute. Add that up and hey presto, the dog learns quickly - just ensure that the correct speed, position etc was marked correctly else you could end up with a slight deviation from perfection. Tazmyn, food is certainly a way to train the positions , but not the only way
