they've had this dog her entire life. I think she has been eating pedigree the entire time too, so no lose stools from food change. they've tested her for parasites, coccidea, and other things. treated with albon just incase, nothing has helped. she has the lose, cow patty type stools. spent alot of money at the vets trying to figure out what the issue was. and surprisingly no one has discussed diet until now. I am waiting to see if she starts feeding some raw and if it fixes the problem.

angus always had looser cow patty type stools until i switched to raw. its been over a year (i think) and both dogs are happy and healthy on it. the stools are firm and easy to dispose of, the dogs are THRILLED at mealtimes, coats are nice etc etc. i don't know if the other dog had diarrhea (runny runny yuck) or the cow pies, but raw made an enormous difference for me. i hope she tries it.

Sorry Gator, I missed your question! Pacific coast Salmonids can be deadly if fed RAW, and all the rest of fresh whole fish I have access to seem to be prohibitive in price, so for fish I am usually stuck with canned mackerel and even that is getting more and more difficult to find.
Having said that, my hubbie used to be an avid deep sea fisherman & would give our GSDs his bait fish left overs and they just loved it - his nickname for one of the dogs was "minnow". I can't think why that food source would be bad.

A good friend's dog had similar problems for four years. It had been tested numerous times and it always came back negative. She spent a fortune on ID canned dog food and flagyll.
She finally went to another vet who agreed to just treat her dog with two five day courses of panacur for giardia. That was two years ago and happy days are still here.

Pharoah: I just told Sitasmom , yesterday to go to the farm store and get a bottle of Goat Wormer which is Safeguard name for Panacur in liquid...told her to do a three day course so I better email her back and tell her 5 day...three days and then in a week do three more usually will do the trick...I told her Albon next. But I think the panacur will cure her new boy..

I gave my four dogs a chicken thigh and ended up steam cleaning carpets for the rest of the weekend.
