Karo syrup is the bomb mixed with peanut butter for peanut butter sandwiches!
It is usually high on the shelves in the baking isle in the grocery stores here! Its in a glass bottle and seriously AWESOME with peanut butter sandwiches!!!!

gsdk9va: You may be right. I have never looked for the stuff, but I do have a vague recollection of seeing it just about anywhere I saw other syrups and.or Bisquick. You can't make a pecan pie without it!

If you are in the UK you might try Tate and Lyles Golden syrup - it is thick too and you'll need to remember to warm the milk to help it dissolve. It's made from cane sugar and free from artificial ingredients... If you try maple syrup option make sure it is pure and not the artificial flavoured stuff.

crazydog all of the above on Karo syrup but I would recommend using goat milk instead of evaporated milk. Sometimes dogs can't break down the lactose and will get the poops from cow milk. Goat milk can be bought in cans like evaporated milk but it is much more expensive, our small town grocery store carries it so you should be able to find it.

Mystere, Yeah, I never thought about it being regionally or nationally available until this thread. I've always just assumed that it would be on the shelf. I had a bad experience too, years ago. My grandmother fooled me and put the Karo Dark (in the blue bottle) on my pancakes. YuuuuuuuuKK!! I almost swore off pancakes too. That was disgusting to me, breakfast over....May I be excused? The maple in the green bottle was good on pancakes, IMO. I've never had it w/ peanut butter.
Perhaps you had the blue Karo Dark also on your pancakes? YuK! That should be baked goods only.

You use white Karo for baby pups not brown karo...the brand is KARO and you look for the clear . It is usually in the syrup isle on top shelf...dark , light and brown sugar...I use all three for baking.....fudge, sweet potatoe pies, hams, and the best of all is Pecan pies.
for pups formula you use the light or we call it White karo..

Yep Nia growing up my mom used to mix it with peanut butter, good thing we were active kids or we'd be fat I guess! It make the peanut butter super creamy and sweet!!

Gsdk9va,
Yep, I HATED pancakes for the first 17 years of my life, all due to the yucky dark Karo, and the fact that my mother beat the pancake mix to death. Tough pankcakes with Karo syrup. Osama Bin Ladin's buds would not have to torture me--just threaten to make me eat that mess again and I will tell you everything and give up everybody!!
Y: Yeah, cook with the stuff, but don't outright eat it!! YUCK! You put it in sweet potato pie???? Oh, you and my dad would get along just fine. I bet you like that smelly country ham, too?

That sounds good.... But wouldn't the sugar be harmful? I have never heard of it myself until this thread, but interested to know how I could use it for my dog, or if I should.
Thanks
