Fizz is quit exquisite. At one year most of mine looked like that , then as they mature the patterns developed on most except Dressa, Bhandi and Cualla Bar...
Dr, Pepper
Are these four considered Pattern or just sable..The black /red lines behind all my lines are very heavy..But Lava Korbelbach and Orthos v Tiekerhook are heavy sables and Cadette Busecker Schloss (dunkelgrau)

All sables have "patterns" but my interpretation of a "Patterned Sable" is that at first glance you may think the dog is black/red and not sable. Second glance reveals the sable.

I have come to the same conclusion, Molly.
When you look at Gauda's pic from the front his face looks like he could be a blk/rd...
Bear is the same way..But when you look at the dog in person, immediately you know by his undercoat showing all the way from tip to toe and two color hairs from tip of his nose to tip of his tail., he is a dark sable..

This picture of this female has very little pattern but her face has markings of a red and black somewhat.

Their light eyes go with their blue or liver dilution of coat color. What is REALLY weird looking is to see lemon-yellow eyes on a solid black! (And such things as yellow eyes in blacks or bicolors do occur) I have also seen a number of times, normal black pigmented pups with dark eyes as young pups, whose eyes turned an orangish color, then as they matured, turned back to dark brown. I've seen 4-6 month old pups that had one light brown eye and one dark brown eye (black pigmented pups) Blues tend to darken as they mature and as adults, blue sables may be difficult to tell from black pigmented sables until you get the two colors side by side. Sable is a PATTERN, not a color. A dog's black or blue or liver color may be of any pattern, sable, saddle, blanket, bi, or solid. The ground color of the dog (red, tan, cream, silver) is unaffected by the liver or blue dilution.
