Mystrere
Yes, it is 14 F Below Freezing today, and i live in Limburg, Belgium not over far from the Ardennes
The Water Tap outside although well covered has been frozen all day, It does not bother the Dogs they have spent the day laying outside in the run
Heidi's Kennel is made of three quarter inch think timber and it has another frame outside with House insulation inbetween then another Plywood board over that, as is the other kennel
The Floor inside is double insulation with another wood skin, Plus her Basket inside witha Blanket she is fine
miss beeb, never mind the Dogs i need to be kept warm as well

Cold is good for a dog, but I would draw the line at the single digits for a puppy.
18 degrees is not that cold but I would want sufficient bedding to make sure the puppy is not stressed. And no wind or cold drafts.
We all do it different.

Great looking pup Steve...best of luck with her!
As far a temps go it was -38 here last week for several days. -40 cel is equal to -40 F My 5mth old pup wasn't bothered by it, and seemed to love it! As long as he was romping he was fine. I did have him in though for all the rest of the time.

Congratulations Steve. Where did the puppy stay before you acquired her? indoors, or outdoors? My new puppy sleeps in 68 F.

She was born in an outside kennel ,of course a breeding box But covered in
Plus when away from the mother when very young a heat lamp, All my Dogs for near on 60 years have lived outside since 8 to 9 weeks old never a problem and never any Vets bills,
She will go on fine and her coat will be great in a few months time
She went into her kennel within 5 minutes of being put into the pen
She stayed outside most of yesterday afternoon, and after her evening feed went into her kennel and not one sound from her all night long
And no problems today this being her first full day here with me
I will post another Photo of her in a months time or so
