Shelley Strohl

The host hotel has a water park next door, YEAHHH! and, for those who don't consider them a waste of good tracking area, several golf courses nearby. You read my mind.

The host hotel is also 100% non-smoking/ YAYYYY!  That sucks.

Gator, I always bring my dogs and they have never been entered in the sho. (My male was entered in the Chapionship 2 years ago, but he became injured, so we ended up not going to Calgary at all). The non-entered dogs, of course, are not allowed on the trial field or show ring. But, everyone understands that these events are also used for socialization for puppies, etc. If you have a dog in training, of course, you wouldn't want to have the dog sitting with you during the trial--the dog is going to be barking and trying to get the helper, or dumbbells, etc. I don't know if there will be shaded parking, but I will check on it. The last time it was in BC, I just brougt a pop-up tent to put over the car for shade. It worked very well. :-) I don't know if there are rental businesses in Chilliwack or Abbotsford, but I have seen them in Langley/Surrey, just west of Abbotsford, where all the clubs are located. Are you inviting the rest of us to join you in the San Juans? :-) Talk about a beautiful and restful area!! Planning to do some whale-watching, too? That is pretty wondrous, as is all the seals hanging out. Surprisingly few good restaurants, though. :-) ,

The alternate hotels have smoking and non-smoking rooms. The alternate hotels are IN Chilliwack (event site), while the host hotel is 14 miles (highway, so less than 10 minutes) away. If you are bringing multiple dogs, you might prefer one of the alternate hotels anyway. :-) I would suggest the Best Western--the rates are about the same as the host hotel, on site restaurant and comparable amenities (their restaurant is probably better, as the White Spot, IMHO, is a Denny's with pretensions). The hosts have arranged blocks of rooms of various sizes at the alternate hotels.

Charlotte, I know you have been around since Hector was a pup...but, in Eastern Washington. :-) I was referring more to the fact that we hardly ever see you "Eastern" folks over here at all. (The non PNW folks may not realize we are talking about a 6 hour drive, through a nasty mountain pass and ickly side winds over a nasty gorge) You did come over a couple of years ago for a Snohomish trial and I used to see you at Tri-State occasionally (Wedensdat training) many years ago, when I was in Spokane on business. Annie used to come over a few times a year, but I can't remember seeing her since 2001. I don't think anyone over here has seen Marielle since before that. And Karon, well you mentioned on one of the threads that you guys over there had never seen her at any trials or shows, so you *know* we haven't seen her on this side of the mountains, either. :-) It would be nice to see everybody from "the other side of the mountains" at an event. :-) The last time I saw some of the Montana folks was the 1996 (?) regionals...in Montana!! This is just a huge region that includes Alaska and seriously takes a 5 hour plane ride to cross East to West, through 3 time zones. :-) Come to think of it, the Canadian nationals may be the most likely time to see some of the Alaska folks, too. :-)

This is great! I'm actually going to be in BC at that time for the World Police and Fire Games so I should be able to make it out to watch.
