Thank you for sharing that, Jill. Yes, it's sad, but the ache will ease knowing how much love your kind act and Shadow's company affected this couple.

I, Catherine, was a single mother, still mama and I can feel the sadness of the story as I lost both gsds within 7 months of each other and that was 2008 and am still crying over it, the female and male had 2 sets of pups and were pure german bloodline gsd. I mis tem so much especially the male. In 2008 I also had a severe strokes and lost a 7 year abusive relationship. I am living on ssd and ssi and am disabled but can walk and talk and hands and legs work. Thank GOD. I wish I had the money to get another Smokey and Queen as it would mend my broken heart. I have only had gsd since i was 1 year old. They are truly human and really understand you so much. I am glad those people had shadow too as I had 2 dogs that I loved more than humans themselves. As a child when things got lonely and disfunctioning in the family my dog Trixie was alway there to protect me to cry with me and to play with me. I am glad there are people like us who truly love gsd for what they are and return the love and respect they deserve. Thank you for your sad/wonderful story
