"They should hang pictures of the healthy dogs on one side of his jail cell... and of the rotting corpses on the other side where they can stare at him 24/7 for the time he's locked up there....  "

The trouble with your idea Windwalker is that anyone who could do this would not be phased at all by such photos. After all, he must have seen these dogs in the condition they were. But I agree with other posters too that someone else must have known about this and did nothing.

What is sad is that because the property was entered without a search warrant (and this I don't understand when apparently dead dogs or dogs in emaciated condition were visible), the guy will get off with a slap on the wrist. Hopefully, the citizens in the state will demand that their laws be changed to make such crimes as this a felony....but, because people have a lot on their minds lately, including how they are going to make ends meet, this could not have happened at a better time to ensure nothing is done.

Those of you who are involved in dogs in any way, should remember this mans' name and the photos of what he allowed to happen. You might consider posting and re-posting this on every dog forum and others and do it at least every 6 months. At the very least, any organization in this country with any balls should ban him for life, without anyone having to file a complaint. The officers of USA, DVG, AKC and every other self-respecting group should see to this, but, I must be smokin' something because they won't. As many of you know, there is another case like this that has been written about repeatedly here in the past. In the end, nothing resembling any kind of justice was done. People really don't give a damn. That is the saddest part of the story.

The Judge should have joined him in jail for giving him that amount of sentence

Proves the Judge does not think he did a terrible thing in letting the Dogs starve to death

But he will get his come uppance for his evil deeds of that i am sure, someone will make him pay the priice

 Steve1,

The judge is constrained by the law in Ohio, where this occurred.  Unfortunately, in Ohio, animal cruelty is NOT a felony charge, "merely" a misdemeanor.

In Washington State and in Oregon,  for example, animal cruelty IS a felony charge, so  Croley would have been looking at 16 felony charges( assuming the animal control personnel waited the hour or so it would take to get a warrant) and he would be going to PRISON (not jail) for several years.   Several other states consider it a felony, as well.  Ohio simply is not one of them, at the present time.

If people from this forum actually want to see matters like this handled as the horrific crimes they are, they need to contact their legislators and get the law changed.  The graphic photos in this case would go a long way toward making that happen.  If THIS case is not enough to get  the crime elevated/re-classified to the felony level, what would?  In Washington, it was the torture/killing of one donkey, Prado, that led to animal cruelty being re-classified as a felony.  In fact, the law is referred to as "Prado's Law."

OMG I just found a news article and this post... for some strange reason googling for "USA Sieger photo" led me ultimately to a news article about this guy.

If I understand the dates correctly, this guy's jail term is up on the 22nd of this month, May 2009.

Ok, bump.

What's this guy gonna do when he gets out?
