See, Moons knows what I'm saying. Ivermectin is good, but potentially dangerous.
It's a horse wormer, OH REALLY, and readily accessible that way for very reasonable pricing. Just a little goes a loooong way.

Ok i just read that hole article on ivermectin http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_ivermectin.html and http://www.safe2use.com/scabiesboard/ivermectin/iverm.html those two articles said nothing about dosing and im still in the same place i was when i started on the label it said to give 1/10 of a cc per 10 pounds but that is for heartworm prevention it doesent say any thing about mites but the article said to give it daily so is that 1/2cc daily for the mites? ( that sounds like a lot)

It might be safer to use a different product for mite's.
I use a kennel dip sometime's for external problem's but its not something for everyday use either.

Ivomectin can kill herding breeds. If you have mites I'd use Diatomaceous Earth. it kills mites, fleas, etc. You can put it on your dog, around sleeping quarters and in kennel runs. It is natural and IT WORKS. Revival catalog has it. Rita

there should be some more links concerning your mite problem on it. so keep looking arround on the pages.
Your old med should give you information unless she didn't give you the discription of it. But she should. If not search for the product name on the web and see if you find a site like i posted on your previous med. so you can see the dosage there. I needed call your Vet and ask what she gave you. she should tell you.

oh really, i would call as many vets as possible and ask them. thankfully my vet is very open and gives me as much info as i can take. he has shown me his medical books showing the dosage of ivermectin for different needs. couldnt tell you what they are, that was some time ago. we have been lucky i guess. in the past 10 years we have had 3 vets (due to moving) and none of them ever had a problem selling me liquid ivermectin.
the same ivermectin used on horse, cattle, swine, is the same one that is in your heartgard etc. pills. most vets dont want you to know this because they make more money off selling you an overpriced beef flavored tablet then they would a bottle of solution that will last you a year or better for the cost of one pill.
cant help about the mite thing, never had that problem. good vet should be able to give you the dosage. do you have any mobile vets in your area? i have learned that they tend to be a lot more helpful then those who sit in an office all day.

jletcher18, exactky, the swine stuff I use for heartworming, way cheaper....I can feel you too concerning finding good Vets... At times they seem hard to find... I had one time very bad luck, due to moving, too. and she cost me several thousand dollars to save my girl.
OH REALLY,A good tipp is too to look for country Vets the "old breed" they often have knowledge you don't find often in the "new breed"of Vets.
Dunno for sure but check into the topical treatments, too. permethrin i know can be used for Sarcoptes scabiei, i know for sure there is a lotion, but maybe the spot on treatment can help there, too. It even keeps chiggers away. Let me do more checking maybe i find something exactly on spot on treatments. some farm supply stores even have a cheap version of permethrin spot ons... so it is not very expencive
ok here we go found a link, has multiple treatment options listet, even ivermac, but no listings on how much, but there are further links, but it states the effectiveness of permethrin for scabies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scabies

OH Really,
I dont know what kind of mites you are talking about. If they are demodectic skin mites the dose is only 1/10 cc per 10 lbs. for oral or SQ. given once a week for three weeks.
I had a skunk that would loose her hair every time she came in heat . Skin mites flared up each time. I used MY Buddy Organic Dip citrus scent it worked great.
Here is a good link for beginners and experienced alike.
