EIsenFaust,

It could as easily be said that the bad guys are ramping up their arsenals due to LE moving into a more militarized mode.  Personally, and from my own experience, I am much more afraid of a cop with an automatic weapon than I am of some gang banger.  The reason for this is that the cop could kill me, one of my family or my dogs just because he felt like it and get off scot free whereas the banger likely couldn't.

Until you have been an officer and walked the streets that they have to patrol while attempting to keep others safe, IMHO, I don't think you have the right to pass judgement.  Things happen fast and mistakes are made, period.  It's a jungle on the streets of the good old USA, if you think other wise, do a ride along with a LEO in a bad section of town and see for yourself.  Then consider they have to deal with that crap every shift.  Yes it is horrible that a mistake was made but children , elderly people, etc. often make mistakes wondering in the wrong yard.  What would happen to one of them if they entered that yard in confussion?  There are two sides to this.  If you have a dog like that, do you really want him where he has the opportunity to injure someone?  Shouldn't you take extra percautions to make sure they can't get to anyone??  I know no one should enter your yard, I feel the same way however, shit happens.  Kids love to tease a dog to get a reaction until the dog finally jumps the fence in frustration over weeks if not months of being teased & when they get a hold of them, who's fault is it, the kids, the dog or the owner for leaving the dog where this could happen?????

Sam they hit the dog 9 times, so their aim is good.  As soon as they put the dog down and out  of it's missery, someone will blast them for that too, there is no winning in a situation like that.  Did you ever stop to think they were trying to stop the dog's forward motion and not kill it?????

Just food for thought, it is easy to Monday morning Quarter back, it is completely different in fast motion.

Ugly dog,

You must have nothing better to do than sit around looking to pick fights/arguments on this data base, etc. You must get a kick out of it or you wouldn't do it so often.  Everyone has a right to their opinion(s) but opinions often change when someone is face to face with the reality of someone elses job/career/experiences.  It's easy to say what you would do or what should have been done after the fact.  It's a completely different matter when the situation evolves in less than 30 seconds and lives are on the line.  Do you not shoot the dog when it is closing in on your partner, when at the time I'm sure they didn't realize they were at the wrong location, which at that point didn't matter, what mattered at that point was keeping the officer's safe.  I don't think anyone on this board condones ramdomly taking the life of a pet since we are all animal lovers.  But let's not go over board bad mouthing people who are trying to do their job.  There are good and bad in EVERY profession and every walk of life, just look around and you can find both.  Is your glass half empty or half full.  Relax a little, calm down, enjoy what time you have left, life is short, I know it takes time to look up and copy/paste all that crap you love to post on here.  And besides you never know tomorrow one of your 'suicide bombers' might take you out, so calm down and enjoy today and every day, they are a blessing. :o)

GARD,

Read Proud Shepherd Poppa's post and you will get an eye opener on why our nation is crashing.  Having worked with felons for many years, it is this type of thinking that scars me more than the bad guys.  I expect the bad guys to be bad, that's their job.  But when John Doe tax payer thinks this way, it scars me to death to think of what we are becoming.  You could not pay me enough money to be a cop today knowing that there are many who think this way.

Proud Shepherd Poppa,  the next time you have a crisis involving your family, I know some real sweet bangers you can have come out to help out.  They will jack you for your car, every single thing you own, take you and your families lives without blinking an eye.  If you are vulnerable, they will exploit it as far as they can take it.  They say a conservative is a liberal that has gotten victumized.  All of the millions upon millions of dollars we spend every year to try and negotiate, treat, councel, rehabilitate, build parks, provide healthy ulternatives does not work.  It may help a few indiividuals hear and there, but it has not made a dent on the gang problems.  Now I know you can come up with some stats that may say other wise, but most of these stats are gathered by those that are using the money or politicians that want to make their watch look good.  Example:  A stat may say "crime is down".  It is based on how many people are sent to prison/jail for crimes that year.  It does not include the fact that LE has suffered cut backs, loop holes in the law that release criminals, or over crowded jails that force judges to look for ulternative placements.  I could go on and on, but I need to drop this for my own reasons of frustration.

I know this from years of experience.  You know why they are as powerful as they are?  Because we have gullible, naive bleeding hearts that don't get it, don't understand what we are dealing with, and watch too much Oprah.  Bangers are in control of the streets because we have handicapped our selves with letting these guys know they have over the top "Rights".  We have created an arrogant young group of people that think and believe that they have the right to do what ever pleases them and NO ONE has the right to stop them.  They have the most suffisticated weapons available.  LE. is ALWAYS behind the curve, always trying to catch up to the bad guys, but always being handcuffed by a naive Nation that cannot see the trees through the forrest.

What ever you do, don't call a cop.  Heavens to bid, you may get the one cop out of 10,000 that is not a good cop.  You will always no the bad ones because the press/media loves to spread this across the nation for evey one to see.

P.S.

With youth in gangs it is all about power and control.  Money from drugs is just a means to power.  You will never take away the desire for power in this generation of organized criminals.  It is rooted too deeply.   The best you can do is make the streets safe for you and I, but this is always met with obstacles that stop people like Gard from doing their job.

May be laws need to be changed, I would think that if a home is posted (beware of dog ) that would be enough to call for K-9 to come before entering private property, with or with out bad guys I though that is why they are trained to go in a head of the police, it seems simple even if your doing a surprise raid. The police need to be protected but also need to respect warnings ,we have protection dogs for just that reason and to think there is poodles behind the gate is fool hardy, and should be held accountable if they  make a mistake . It all seems to come down to property, are they our property or not? Mine ! she is my love, but the law says she is property. What happens if someone is caught vandalizing your property, I belive they will go to jail or get sued. So just who rights are being violated when a mistake is made and an animal or child is killed in a mistake.A mother leaves the room and a dog kills ,she is in jail. Just a thought that they may need to get laws around animals in some kind of order,as I think most are unsure what is safe for police and animals, but reading a sign would be a good start.

I am the gang officer for my department. I contact gang members almost every day. I don't know where this came from but it is almost the most rediculous statments I have ever heard.

It is very, very rare a LE officer discharges an automatic weapon (or any weapon for that matter) and an innocent civillan gets hit.

I would guess in 75% of gang shootings, innocent by standards are hit instead of or including the intended target.

All I can say to that is WOW.

P.S.

The only reason I am still posting on this thread is so maybe more people watch and know about Deputy Canfield.
