When Labradoodles first started to gain popularity several years ago I was completely put off by the breed and disgusted at the thought as well.  Now, having had many in for obedience training, I am actually rather fond of the breed.  The ones that we have had in for training seem to have gotten the best of both worlds and were GREAT dogs.

If you've ever seen them as a puppy, they are irresistible. And the adults I'm acquainted with have been great with kids.

At least they didn't pick a foo foo dog like a shitzu or chihuahua. Anybody seen what color it is?

Anybody see  that the current Whitehouse pooch, Barney just bit some PR guy or reporter, (not sure what he does)? The guy was asking for it if you ask me! He said don't blame the victim, but he spooked the poor little scottie and got what he deserved.

GSDbreeder- or Beneful! lol...

tbm- I have also worked with some excellent labradoodles, particularly those from the Australia Rutland Manor are great dogs, it's fad itself I just detest.  It's a breeding market in which there is no standardization, very little ethics, lord knows even less truth in advertising. I have also trained some HORRIBLE doodles. Hyperactive, snappy...you still need quality breeding stock, when some schmuck gets a $500 poodle and a $200 lab from the paper, breeds them, and sells the pups for $1500, what do you expect?-

If we want to get on the topic of every breed being designer at some point....come ON. The GSD has a purpose!  You trying to tell me the yorkiepoo or the schnoodle fits a purpose an established breed does not? Or a "mini walrus" or a bullmation? Come on, this trend is a joke, and a dangerous one, too, as backyard breeders and puppy mills flock to the market and choke up shelters with even more homeless mutts.

For a mid size, low shed coat, a nice portie would have been a much better choice. Off my soapbox now.

unfortunately this behavior is not exclusive to crossbreeding.  just read the many post here about all the crappy gsd breeders and all the unstable sick gsds being produced.  bad breeding is bad breed.  the type of dogs being breed isn't the problem it's the quality of the individual dogs that are being bred and this is 100% breeder issue not whether the dogs produced are pure or cross.

all dogs have a purpose whether you like, agree with and or value the purpose is up to you.

It,s just nice to see children in the white house again I just hope for there sake they can remain children. It has to be very demanding to grow up in the white house. When i was a kid i don,t know what i.d of done without my big tractor tire sand box on the farm. altough I,m sure they won,t have the same problem i had with barn cats using it for a litter box...

Kczaja oki you know better.

I agree with justcurious, all breeds have purpose, and there is as many shity GSD bread as any other dogs, as a matter a fact the more popular dog the more shit comes out.

Bob I agree I grew up city/farm and I think farm beats it by a large margin, now white house? Shit I wonder what they would say if as a kid I would walked in with cows/chickens etc shit on my shoes lol :)

If anyone really thinks designer dogs are a good idea while perfectly nice, adorable mutts rot in shelters that can barely afford to keep their doors open, you and I do not live on the same planet.

For the sake of those lovely children, I hope someone does their homework and gets them a nice one, certainly not all of them are best of both worlds. Australian lines are very nice dogs.
