The gruesome photos tell the story.

2dogs I have never posted a negative reply until now. How could you possibly defend this person? Are you suggesting that Nitro had a bad temperment and deserved to be starved? I use to own a boarding kennel and occasionally I would get tricked into boarding a dog w/a questionable temperment and I can assure you that those dogs were treated like any other. I even boarding a bearded collie that the breeder would not take care of, as a matter of fact she flew the dog in from Paris because no one would board the dog. The dog had to wear a leash in the house at all time because she was so unpredictable. I am not a trainer or professional handler by any stretch of the imagination but I sucked it up and that dog was equally treated by me as she were a regular client. There is no excuse for what happened at that facility! How can you look at yourself in the mirror after defending this person?

Hey did anyone notice the post he made in another thread - Funny how he was so "concerned" then.

By the way, I went on to Vindy.com there are a few articles on there about this kennel, and it seems "2dogs" goes by a few aliases - Katie, Cattledog - and its a "copy-paste"....

To Liztom,

I'm so sorry about Nitro. Now, are more dogs dying? Did the Humane Society put the dog to sleep on the website? Were there any others? I want to adopt one, but they  won't release them.

This man is scum.  Couldn't even bury the poor dogs. He should be banned from USA and all dogsport.  Maybe he will be with a new Board of Inquiry. We can only hope.

Hi I just wanted to update everyone on this case..

He has a sentencing hearing on January 22, 2009 at 9am if anyone can be there please do. We cannot let him get away with this. This plea agreement is ridiculous and i am personally hoping the judge denies it!

December 4, 2008 Plea deal

A plea agreement recommends four months in jail for the man who operated High Caliber K-9, where seven dead and 12 starving dogs were found.

Steve Croley, 38, of Struthers-Coitsville Road, Lowellville, pleaded no contest Thursday afternoon in municipal court to four counts of animal cruelty. The case had been set for a Dec. 18 trial. Two housing violations related to the condition of the High Caliber K-9 property at 1516 Coitsville-Hubbard Road were dismissed.

City Prosecutor Jay Macejko said the plea agreement calls for 30 days in jail on each count; restitution of $1,646 to Animal Charity, a humane agency on South Avenue that rescued dogs from the property; and a provision that Croley not own or harbor animals during whatever probation period — one to five years — that may be imposed.

Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. told Croley, who is represented by Youngstown attorney Heidi Hanni, that the potential penalty for each count is up to 90 days in jail and $750 fine. Croley said, “Yes, your honor,” to acknowledge he understood his plea meant he waived his right to a trial.

The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Jan. 22.

“The court recognizes there were losses in this matter,” Judge Douglas said. A restitution amount that includes estimates from the four dogs’ owners will be included, he said.

Restitution applies only to the four dead dogs for which Croley was charged, Macejko said. Letters were sent to the owners, one in California, one in Germany and two in Youngstown.

Macejko said Thursday that Judge Douglas could sentence Croley to more time than worked out in the plea agreement. If that happens, Croley could withdraw his plea and the case could proceed to trial, the prosecutor said.
