I'd have to agree with Sam and Two Moons.  I have both also and yes there are BIG differences in my bitch and my males.  I'm partial to the boys but her and I have a good relationship as well; it's just "different".  I think my males are more predictable.  She likes my husband more anyways. lol

Agar you touched on what I wanted to say. Men seem to prefer females and woman, like male dogs. I like bigger more masculine dogs myself, my males always seem a little more laid back and the females sharper and  well..."bitchy". My females are always the first to start a fight or notice something is not right in a situation, females are more in tune with their surroundings and people, they also seem more intuative to my feelings and cuddly. Females seem to be more protective and allert. My males have always let me make the call, not them reacting on their own to a situation unless not given a choice, like jumped by a lose dog but they tend to not start the fight themselves, unless I said go for it. I know nothing above is cut and dry, there are mellow females and very reactive males, this is just been my luck in 17 years of GSD's. Every dog has the potential to be any of the combo, depending on genetics, raising and training.

I haven't had a female I really liked in 9 years. Maybe it's just me? I'll like em well enough I guess but not have that tight bond I do with my males.

Hope it was a good looking dog, no my name comes from Barcelona, a family name.

I'm not really looking for anything, I just wanted discussions about male vs female.

What do you like in your female vs male in build, and that sort of thing.

And I'm mostly looking into the show/herding line but I'd like to know the difference you like, just curious and wanting to learn more and more.

I've got 2 female and 1 male right now.  Soon to be 2 males! Crossing fingers : - }  They call the females bitches for a reason, lol.  When fighting, they will fight to the death unless stopped.  My male is the best dog so far that I've ever had.  Going to be sticking with males from now on I think.  Good luck in your choice...
