Two Moons

Guru,

If he swim's regularly in a pool I would say he's cleaner than mine..LOL

The smell is normal for any dog.    You might consider a bed filled with cedar to change the odor.

I do not give my adult dog's bath's, only the pup's and not very often.   But they all swim and that get's rid of dust and loose hair as well as a good brushing.

I used a kennel dip this year instead of frontline and they smell like the vet's office for a week or so but the dog smell alway's return's.   I believe it come's from them licking themselve's as much as anything.    Try a breath mint....LOL

Seriously the cedar bedding work's for me.   I make my own fresh since I have red cedar here, it's a stronger scent.

Brent.

Only when they really need it, or as show prep a couple 2-3 times a year. I dillute the shampoo (usually Mane & Tail) in a bucket of warm water till its just slippery, apply and scrub with a big soft sponge, then rinse thoroughly. Other times I do use Miracle Coat Waterless Shampoo for touch-ups, preclass grooming at a show, home scent improvement after fun in the mud that the hose or swimming won't take care of completely. All puppies get at least a couple of baths when young as part of their up-bringing, but not always with shampoo, more going through the motions than actual laundering. LOL

Whenever Blitz gets to smelling too gamey, I spritz his coat with Fabreze rather than a doggy perfume. It hadn't caused any skin problems and makes him smell nice and fresh. When I do wash him, I use Murphy's Oil Soap. It makes him shiney and smelling really good for weeks afterward. Murphy's is slippery too and hard to rinse out, so I dilute it a little with water.

Anyone used the avoderm spray conditioner?  I use it more to help with the static during brushing and catch the hair on the brush, but it smells nice too.  Haven't used it much yet but so far it seems nice...

I have Timmy Holedigger cologne for dogs but I don't put it on them because I think dogs smell good.

I'd bath mine weekly if I could. I hate Eau de dog funk. I try to keep it at about once a month. Durring summer I use fly spray and it makes the dust stick to their coats and looks dirty/greasy after a couple weeks. In winter I give into the mud, they don't come inside and go bathless for months.

If you brush him/her daily for only one minute - you only need to bath - once or twice a year.

Ditto Molly - very rarely. We live in a very dry climate, so no mud.  They don't seem to have any real doggy odor - I brush every day, and use Quick Bath moistened towels (buy at PetCo) to remove surface dust/dirt once a  week or so. They  (the towels)have a nice fresh smell too.............

We rarely bathe our dogs. Only if they've been skunked or rolled in dead fish do they get a soap bath. We may hose them down in the dog shower after a particularly muddy outing but shampoo baths? No.

Two to three times a year in general, but four times in the last three months. Damn dogs have rolled around in compose or pissed thier crates when my female went into heat. I been bathing them with Mane N tail..they all look great, not as expensive as some of the other shampoos..plus my girlfriend is also using it right now, she doesn't know its for the dogs and horses..Shh!!!!!!
