An open show gets an entry of 173, And our British Sieger entry is less { thats if the entry is that low }
If it is to do with the entry fee --- Did it have to be so high??????

Or has it to do with the bitework i think the German Siegershow is more expensive
by paulie on 29 September 2008 - 13:09
I cant see what all the fuss is about, nobody wants to know the details of any other shows, if you have entered, then your in, if not , tough. It;s no use crying over spilled Sieger shows

I want to know because I'm a nosey bugger, normally we find out entries prior to all shows.
And Jim I don't have anything entered.

Perhaps a thought for those who are spectators, or both entrants and spectators, some not entered in the Working Class but wondering IF its worth them attending on the Saturday. Others will be wondering if it worth attending at all. Travel and accommodation are considerations for some if not most people.
Bitework was done at the Dutch and Belgium Sieger Shows, and there is almost NO comparison with the German Sieger Show and their enormous costs.
Perhaps more "lateral" and "forward" thinking could be done by more people, I can recommend it!
There are many ways people can support this event, entering and/or spectating, sponsorship, advertising, helpers, etc etc. Not everybody may be able to or want to enter a dog.

The entry fee at most All Breed Championship Shows is now approx £22 which does not include a catalogue and for this all the exhibitors get back is a piece of coloured card and if they are lucky sometimes a rossette !!
On the face of it £25 entry at a Breed Event appears expensive, but from what I remember each year every exhibitor has recieved a trophy, the first three in each class a fold up cage (worth somewhere in the region of approx £35) as well as Rosette and varying amounts of dog food. The rings are spacious and well set out for our gaiting breed (unlike what we often have to put up with at All Breed Shows) and as has already been pointed out on here this year 'Helpers' have to be provided for the Schutzhund Test , I hope for whom their expenses (as no-one should have to be out of pocket) will have to be paid, same as for the four officiating judges, so for those of you who think £25 is too expensive to attend a show that normally you are only too happy to advertise any successes you achieve at , then somewhere you have got your priorities wrong. I suggest it is more likely the annomoly of two Open Classes and the inequality of the gradings the dogs will recieve in comparison of what they have to do to achieve these gradings which is the reason for this years drop in entry and without prejudice I can well understand the predicament some dogs owners will find themselves in as a consequence and hope that by the end of judging on Sunday the lower entry still remains the 'Only Problem' encountered.
Nth Yks and Sth Durham Open Show was a superb Spectacular for which the committee certainly require many , many Congratulations. With my recent absence from shows I was delighted to have attended such a successful event which from start to finish delivered a happy, friendly atmosphere from both exhibitors & spectators alike , certainly a breath of fresh air in todays dog show climate, made all the more enjoyable being bathed all day in brilliant sunshine (dont know how the committee managed to organise such lovely weather for us), though it is said that 'The sun shines on the righteous' !! .

I must add that I have received several reports that the NYSD Spectacular was one of the very best shows held this year. Congratulations. Especially for the entry, and the relatively low entry fee, and this with two SV Judges, fantastic.

I heard whilst away at the week-end in Ireland that the entry was 160. I`m just back and off to email Sheila, Mo.
