LIZ: This is the final paragraph of the OUR DOGS article on the Two Tier KC Registration proposals, you will see, after having read it, no one is "jumping the gun". It is much more likely that our breed clubs will "miss the boat" once again by their almost total disregard of the proposal or by a "token" discussion on them, and then forget them. Their typical and predictable "modus operendi"
"German Shepherd Dog representatives are meeting with the Kennel Club on 20th November and David is hoping that his proposals will be ‘on the table’ although as the KC called the meeting this will rather depends on whether the KC is prepared to allow discussion on it and of course, whether the GSD clubs take it up."

I haven't bought the dog papers for more than 3 years, so I have no idea what's being "said" in them but I sincerely hope we haven't missed the boat DP... do you really think we've missed the boat?

David, don't quite get "miss the boat". I am only interested in if our german shepherd breed council and member clubs have made an official statement about what ,if any, of the proposed proposals they will be putting on the table.Since "David's proposals" are in the dog press i assumed they had been okayed by our ruling body. liz

I'm going to have to read the papers I guess! Liz, does it sound like a "no brainer"?

THE KENNEL CLUB’S PLANS

EXTRACTS
Those breed clubs and councils which have been consulting and making progress with the Kennel Club can expect to continue to do so – with renewed vigour and determination.
Some breed organisations, especially any which may have been unwilling to co-operate with Kennel Club demands benefitting the health of the breed, can expect the Kennel Club to be tougher on them and to take unilateral action to enforce its demands if necessary.
There are already plans underway for members of the Breed Health and Welfare Strategy Group, to deal with issues regarding the following breeds over the next few weeks and months: German Shepherd Dogs, Basset Hounds, Bloodhounds, Neapolitan Mastiffs, Dogues De Bordeaux, and a joint meeting of representatives of a number of brachicephalic breeds such as the Pug and the French Bulldog.

I was looking for a simple "yes" or "no" answer to whither the gsd ruling body has made any decisions on the proposals.I do not think it is right to go over thier heads,as if they do not use all of the proposals, what does that make them look like?I will await the breed council's decision, and support them as we all should. please David,no more links to your web sight i think we all know it off by heart by now. liz.

Liz: I do not understand your phrase "I do not think it is right to go over their heads" - Everybody has the right to express and write proposals, and have them published wherever and whenever, and send them to all and sundry. These proposals, modified or not, have to gain wide support to stand a chance of success, thankfully they appear to be gaining some very influencial supporters throughout the UK. It is vital that more is done to inform more people about these proposals, most initiatives fail by simply running out of steam on the home straight.

David,of course you are right about the more support the proposals get the better, but i still feel that it should have been agreed with the breed council and member clubs. To me that would have given the proposals more strength, could you not have consulted with said clubs first? I am sure if everyone worked together it would be better for the breed, surely you must see that. Reason, who suggested the two tier system, yourself,Missbeeb,Beepy, and a couple of others, have done a good job,but imagine the strength you would have had with all the clubs backing. This is what i meant by going over thier heads, and on a final note things only run out of steam if you let them. liz

I dont belong to the local club as I have the wrong "type" of GSD.
I have however also sent the ideal of the 2 tier to people in other breeds and asked them to circulate it and see what response it gets. If we can get enough "other breeds" involved and on side I feel it could have much more impact with the KC than just our breed council and clubs.
