I have recently sold a pup to a very wealthy family who was thoroughly evaluated by ,me and another breeder friend in Dallas , who sent them to me..THey paid cash, excited, had shepherds before, and she works in a co orporate office in Dallas, and he is law , and justice Executive for a huge Conglomerate, and all seemed right.I received a call , on the answer machine, that they want to bring the puppy back...Nothing against the puppy, he is more than great/ but they discovered that raising a german shepherd of quality requires time , time time and more time..She expressed that the pup was smarter than both of them and they are confused as how to handle her. Whew...not only did I send about 12 links to our database info, but pages of how to.s and they were happy to take on the task..They have a huge swimming pool and they see a big problem arrising...
My friend in Dallas, is surprised ,but not...they have maids to clean, lawn people to do lawn, pool people to keep pool, 4 cars and no kids. Her remark was , they need to just hire an inhome caregiver for the german shepherd. Some people have to hire someone to take care of all their chores and unkeep, as their jobs do require too much of themselves to give a little or a lot to a demanding german shepherd, whose Grand dad was Armino v Haus Baup on one side and Time de la Sereno on the other....a handful but an easy learner and all it takes is some love ,,,,and time..\
In this case. all the money in the world doesnt make any difference. Just follow your gut...feeling...all you can do. sometimes we are wrong no matter what decisions we choose.

This man sounds like he was really excited to get this puppy. I know I was when I got mine. And I was in a somewhat similar situation...like him I had worked and saved up. After driving 2 hours to get my pup something came up where I thought I would not be able to get him. This was one of the worst moments of my life and a LONG ride home! But thanks to the GREAT breeders I was dealing with they helped me though this and held the puppy another week for me. Dont deny this man one of these amazing dogs just because of an unfortunate event that happened. He may not be the wealthiest man in the world but I know if he is anything like our family the puppy will be just fine...Because THE ANIMALS EAT 1ST...If we starve so be it!

Well,... guess I'll be in the minority here...
Several years ago I was looking for a puppy, and exchanged a number of emails with a breeder who had a puppy I was interested in, but was on a waiting list as someone had a deposit in on her, but hadn't made final pmt, nor arrangements so maybe the pup was available... eventually the first person ended up with the pup and as the breeder had nothing else planned for over a year she refered me to someone with a litter her dog had sired. Again went thru pictures, emails, even naming him... and a week before he was to come here...my partner had a heart attack and major bipass surgery. I called the person with the litter within a couple days and told her we weren't going to be able to take him... and since then health issues have had our income up and down... So I rather put myself in the interested buyer's shoes... It broke my heart to give up the pup... still have his 7 week old pic on my screensaver though he'd be almost 3years now.
If this is someone you felt honesty wanted a pup, then fell on hard times I hope that when he's on his feet again you or someone else will help him get his baby. Thank God Bev survived her surgery, and is now back working full time, but face it shit happens. There's been times that dodging crisis seems like all I do in my life... but it's the dogs that keep me going... both to give them the care, love and food they need... and cause they are the 1st to know when something horrible's happened... and I end up with 2 shepherds and a Tibetan spaniel under my chair... (the Chihuahua, Lab and Basset just check that the dish is full and there's still room on the sofa)
