No type of training should be forced!A good trainer of any sort will know the limits of the individual...per time element etc.The dog should always enjoy what they are doing just like a pup.

I am not an expert, so if I say something completely wrong.... Please tell me. I have only really been training for 1.5 years [18 mos.] But I do have a mentor.... and a really good one at that.  Anyway, we train 2 to 3x a week, depending on the weather, and only about 20 min. sessions each dog. I believe you want to build up the drive almost to the top, then crate them when they are still in high drive, they think about what they could do better next time. I just watch for signs that my boys are disinterested, and I make one more attempt and "to the truck" we go! Then onto the next. We do ALLOT of drive training for now, and some obedience while in high drive so it looks great we use a tug, and I do tracking at home with kibble. We just have allot of fun. I know it is going to take a little longer, but I do not believe in compulsion training. I want it to be fun for me and my boyz. :-D

Rugers,The time element is right as you stated. But no more than that.It is wonderful to have a mentor.Don't be pressured by your peers into a quick dog.Have fun!!
