Excellent post Bill   The images of the cavalier withering in agony I think will stay in peoples minds for a long time. there is no excuse for this when they have VOLUNTARY  screening for this problem,   YET not enforced by the KC   Friends who go on to General internet forums have said it is getting talked about more than any other topic, Breeders and KC alike are being slated, most asking the same question....Why do the KC allow breeding without compulsory health certificates

Good idea Patrick. But what about all the conditions affecting the breed that there is no genetic test for.......... Like EPI, AF dwarfism etc.? What are we intending to do about these conditions that we already know are being produced?

Didnt we once have something called the Breed Council Database where we were to record all these problems............ No one uses it!!

How many threads on this topic are going on pedigreedatabase right now?  It's a bit confusing....

Whatever we do must be "realistic" - it is realistic to introduce "compulsory" health screening for currently available "health screening" tests. For example Hip scoring, Elbow scoring, Haemophilia Tests. If and when other "health screening tests become available for the GSD they can be added. NOW is the time for our breed to push the Kennel Club very hard to introduce compulsory health screening tests for the GSD. If the Kennel Club refuse "GO PUBLIC" in a big and consistent and prolonged way. Simply run a public campaign making them aware of the Kennel Clubs REFUSAL. Inform the RSPCA, the BVA, and any other organisation that can add the pressure onto the Kennel Club to persuade them to AGREE.
