OK, EK! You have my permission. I still don't get it. I own a DOG. I just don't see the need to know whether GSD2000, SuperTrainer19, or Don Corleone think of my dog. I like my wife and kids and am damn proud of them, but I don't go around asking for other's approval/disapproval. And these are people, not a DOG.
I understand what your saying and that is fine. I guess I'm out of the loop. I understand the "staying true to the standard" BS, but in my opinion this is where we lost the standard. Too much worrying about withers and coat and not enough on the dog.

Don,
Pass the popcorn.
I recently posted picture's of my dog, I really didn't care so much about anyone's individual opinion, I'm just proud of him and wanted to show him off.
I see the point of your original post and I understand how you feel, it all make's sense.
But the reason's people do it are as diverse as life itself. It's human nature, as was your post.
Do you have any butter for the popcorn? I like a lot of butter.
I'm in a transitional period and I'm trying real hard, it was a good flick.
Moon's.

I bet if I posted a pic of me in a wet T shirt, you boys would critique the hell out of that! LMAO.

Don sometimes it is just nice to hear that people like your dog how about that? (Kinda like your friend saying your wife is hot) Nice to hear that you don't have a ugly mutt ( Your wife is pretty) , that you did breed right ( your children are cute and look normal) or that you bought a nice looking dog. (in now days the child that you imported actually looks like a child LOL)
you may say you don't ask for people to give comments but you can not say you don't like hearing them about your wife or children. same with some people that just want to hear "nice dog"

I have said it before and I will say it again. I do not even read the entire posts of members I do not think have proven themselves knowledgeable. I can also say that certain board members have opened my eyes to the finer points of a german shepherd. I am in a even more GSD deprived country than that guy from srilanka who came on here a while ago. we have one all breed show A YEAR down here . If it werent for the critiques I would never have known what a proper gsd shoulder should ook like, or how a good croup should look.
I say keep the critiques comming!
Although Don's post has validity. People come on here and post a pic of their dog every 2 months and expect the whole board to come out and tell them how she changed and improved. Then you have those who want an 8 week old puppy critiqued of a pic of a dog sitting down ... geez stack em then post em

Y. R. I remember you posted a pic of a very good , doggy lookin sable bitch a while back. Did you breed her yet?
by Sheesh on 21 August 2008 - 23:08
Persoally, I do it primarily because I am proud of my dog, and no, I would never get rid of a dog because of something someone said on here. I do however look at the negative comments and see if I can see it myself and if I agree. Lets face it, no dog is perfect, no matter what we may think of our own dogs. I loke to hear what others have to say.
