Sure I took it from Uberlands website , so Im sure , as I changed a word or two , she didnot have it copyrighted. It was there for education.

When you have a litter that's a commitment for life, if a buyer of your pup brings it back to you after a year YOU SHOULD take it back, you brought them into this world you commit your life to them! I don't get people who think that once they are sold it's out of their hands!, I tell you what if I saw a pup from my litter in the condition I see on those videos in the shelters I would take it home and for sure  nurse them back to a healthy life.The problem is breeders who sell most of their pups NOT ALL but most do NOT care what happens to their pups after they leave .And THAT to me is disgusting and the results are despicable.

If it feels good do it and have a baby, sign up for food stamps and free programs to pay for having it and even pay to put it in a day care. Where are the parents of this baby? Who knows and many dont care.

  I agree to a degree. I have been doing GSD Rescue for over 14 years now and let me tell you that these dogs (especially GSD's) are NOT all pet dogs who are brought to the shelters. I have had more Schutzhund, Patrol, Assistance, SAR, etc  canidates and retired dogs who's handlers  no longer want to keep them once they are not useful. The unfortunate part of that story is that some of these dogs are ruined by the wanna be trainers and the dogs pay with their lives as they are not trustable. You can find anything in the Shelter so please don't put the full blame on the "Pet" Dog Breeders (though as I said, they are a large part), blame every breeder who puts a dog out there and doesn't keep in contact with the pups they sell and be sure the new owner/handler/Dept knows the requirement to return the dog if he/she doesn't work out. In my eyes, THAT'S the rest of the problem.  I have had dogs in Rescue from several so called "Top" Kennels and Breeders who refused to take the dog back when I called to tell them I had one of their dogs in our program and I would love nothing more than to expose these losers but I will play nicely in the sandbox today. If they can't take the dog back for some reason, there should be no reason the breeder can't help with a monetary donation or adoption referrals but I have NEVER been offered either one form these people who get $2,500 or more per puppy. It's disgusting, it really is.

And Tina, because of funds so limited , so many pounds and shelters, only keep an animal only a limited time and then it is Euthanised with no one ever knowing it was there.

They have persons in charge of that budget that doesnt include keeping an animal to feed and treat , so they , as a result of no cash flow, subject the animals to quick decisions to terminate life.  Very sad. I couldnt ever work in a place of this kind.

No pet breeders aren't the sole problem but if every (TDH) Tom, Dick, and Harry, quit breeding GSD's, we'd have a lot less dogs to reabilitate and place into pet homes. I'm sure  their are at least 6 times the ammount of pet breeders appossed to show and work breeders.

I worked rescue too, we even had a wolf/GSD Hybred, some highly trained but overly aggressive dogs, and many too timid to be of any quality breeding. I'd say 95% were of crap breeding, and the first to go were the nicely bred quality dogs. Allot of dogs no longer wanted, people moved, owners died or just found in the pound for whatever unknown reasons. The older abandoned dogs always killed me. They were harder to find homes for, even though they were trained and easy to handle.

People really do suck. I'll never breed for pets. Sorry but my opinion is that serious dog people are less likely to suddenly need to be rid of their dogs for any reason. Dogs are and always will be a part of their lives and they don't move or make life changes without thinking ahead and about the dogs in their lives. "Pet" people want a dog because they saw one in a movie or the Jones's down the street have one. However how many can really take on that responsability? Most people don't even need to have kids far less a dog. Humans just want, to want.

K9 mom , you are so right and we see it here all the time. It does not matter how much the price tag was on their heads, regardless if they were pets  or top dogs they'll end up at the shelter. Too many dog owners think that dogs are OK to discard and that's the problem and yes it happens with everything else too but let's stick to dogs for now . I also see another topic where the questions has to do about breeding , asking why the stud owner HAD to HOLD the female in heat to be bred cause she DID NOT  accept the Stud................GEEZ was this breeding SO darn important that you HAD to HOLD her up???? Do we not have enough shepherds out there!!! Was this female in question SO great, unlike any other that we had to force her to be bred??? This is where the problems starts!!!  With people who think breeding is far more important then why they are breeding to begin with and if you ask most people why are you breeding this female, they have no great answer to IMO justifies the breeding. I am not against breeding but I want to know that it was very well thought over and that they researched the commitment they are about to make. If my femlae did not want to be bred, the breeding would not take place....It is not that important.

 i reascued  a GSD , found out it came from a "excellent breeder" and she didnt want the dog back because it was spayed mostly i think is the reason. im sure they get 2500 or more per puppy. i bred my working line male about 2 years ago and I would take one of my puppies back in a heart beat, no matter what conditions it is in, or how old it is. i would be very upset if one of my puppies ended up in a rescue, and i would go get them from their in a second. I stressed this with all of my puppy buyers and to this day they are all happy and healthy and a part of their families and their owners communicate with me on a regular basis. I am very happy with my choices of new families. Another thing is being a good breeder you are lucky to strike even after selling your puppies, because you put so much into your dogs and your puppies to ensure they are healthy, happy and well loved. you dont breed to see how much they will sell for, you breed to have better the breed. Also if you never find the right owners to suite the puppies, so be it, you keep them all! that is my opinion. I also agree it has nothing to do with any breed of dog ( i am completely against breed specific legislation) it has to do with how they are raised and treated.

MAKE SURE IF YOU CANT FIND THEM A RESPONSABLE HOME, THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO KEEP THEM YOURSELF!

i have a lot of other rules i follow,  but in the end i always follow number 1.
